Antonio Phillips Antonio Phillips Sr., affectionately known as “Cellphone Tony” was raised in South Memphis within a strong family that taught him values that were deeply rooted in personal growth. At the young age of 8, Tony knew he had and entrepreneurial spirit. He would wash cars, rack leaves and run errands for neighbors to earn money to buy things he wanted so he didn’t have to ask his mother for money. After graduating high school, Tony found that he had an interest in telecommunications when he took a job at MCI Worldcom. At that time, cellphones were becoming more popular and accessible to the general
public. Tony felt like this would be a great opportunity to become a full-time entrepreneur. He saved his money for two years and in 2001 he opened his first store “Beepers Etc. 2 & Phones”. Known for his eccentric personality, great customer service and attention to detail, Tony is now the owner of 3 AAU Wireless phone locations with plans to open 2 additional stores within the next 12 months, Mr. Phillips attributes his determination to building a legacy for his children. When asked Why? Tony said “I want my children to know that with determination and hard work, anything in life is possible if you just try.”
