Inaugural Women’s Health Month Set for February
By Shanelle Schick
There are many days on the calendar to bring awareness and attention to men’s mental health and mental health in general, however one thing that seems to be lacking is a dedicated women’s health focus. Yes, there are certain days throughout the year that draw attention and focus to certain issues, however nothing that brings everything together under one umbrella and into focus.
Women experiences many challenges, issues and changes in their lifetime, and it is the hope of Tim Chan from Intra-Mind to bring these to the forefront in order to create more awareness and understanding for both women and men.
It might seem strange that a man has decided to step up and bring awareness to the issues that women face, but Tim’s passion for mindset and mental health overflows to women as well. As a brother, a father, an uncle and a friend, he has witnessed what life is like for women on the other side and has decided to create Women’s Health Month in February.
“Awareness and understanding of women’s health issues can help to us to understand what the females in our lives are going through. It can help us to know when to provide extra support to them, when we need to step up and allow the women in our lives to take a step back”.
During the month of February a series of events, workshops and a wellbeing expo will be held to showcase the services available locally. Women’s Health Month will kick off on Saturday 3rd February with a free community barbecue at the Lagoon from 7am -10am. Feel free to drop in for some light breakfast and a chat while the kids can have a play or a swim while you’re there.
It is anticipated that the full program of events will be released on Monday 15th January. Be sure to follow the Intra-Mind social media pages and The Hub Capricorn Coast page to keep up to date with the latest information on this month.
