One Year as a Digital Magazine!

By Shanelle Schick

What a ride it’s been! The past twelve months have gone by so quickly, it’s hard to believe that we are already celebrating a year since we relaunched as a digital magazine We’re very humbled by the response that we have received from the community, and it brings us immense joy to know that we are bringing an important connection to our local community

It’s been a year of learning curves, overcoming hurdles, and learning how to do things on the fly I am always up for a challenge and love growing alongside of the publication I’ve been incredibly lucky to meet so many wonderful members of our local community who pour their hearts and souls into their businesses and who are so passionate about making a difference in the lives of others We really are blessed to not only live in a beautiful part of the world, but are also surrounded by caring, compassionate people too!

What started as a hobby to bring information to our community has taken on a life of its own and extended into community events, a lending library, and the Giving Fund Our inaugural Walk for Wellbeing was held in October last year in support of Queensland Mental Health Week and we had over 120 participants join us for a leisurely walk from Farnborough Beach to Kemp Hill, stopping for a rest pause at Ross Creek, morning tea at Lammermoor Beach and finishing off with a barbecue at Kemp Hill It was incredible to watch the walkers and see connections and friendships form along the way! We’ll be doing it all again this year on Sunday 16th October with an earlier start of 6am.

Our Lending Library continues to grow as we continue to receive regular donations of spiritual, self-help, health and wellbeing books and oracle cards. We now have approximately 200 items to choose from. If you are having a clean out, and have items to donate, we’d love to take them off your hands. Please send us an email or private message on social media. We are still seeking a permanent space to house the library until we are in a position to afford an actual home for The Hub Capricorn Coast. In the meantime, we will be locking in some regular dates and locations for borrowing items.

The Giving Fund received more than $1000 worth of donations since its inception. The structure of The Giving Fund is currently under review to ensure that we are able to assist those who have fallen on hard times and are needing a little support and nurturing to move through. Thank you to the generosity of our local businesses who have provided donations in the form of classes, passes and other. Your generosity is invaluable.

The next twelve months is set to be just as exciting as the last have been. We have lots of new ideas and concepts to share with you. It’s our goal to have a live website to house all of our information in the one place by the end of 2023!

Once again, thank you for your support over the past twelve months. We look forward to continuing to keep you connected to our local wellbeing community and events.
