The Robert Hill Cup Winner

Rosie Hill was extremely pleased to present the Robert Hill Cup to ‘Junior of the Year’, Charlie O’Dowd, at Marlborough Golf Club recently.

Despite the sad circumstances, the memorial service for the life of Tony Hill in January reunited three old friends who had not seen each other together for many years. These three ladies had more than just friendship in common as they are (or were) all called Rosemary Hill!

On the left is Rosemary Murray (née Hill and affectionately known as Bud) who is the last remaining member of the third generation of the family. In the middle is Rosemary Hill (affectionately known as Wo) who was married to the late Alfred Hill. And, on the left is Rosemary (Rosie) Hill who was married to the late Robert Hill and is the mother of Group CEO Mike Hill. Bud, Wo and Rosie have all promised to meet up again as soon as possible.

Charlie, who is 12 years old, h year. As well as getting he has represented Wiltshire County at U12 and U14 level and remains unbeaten in singles matches. He also won best nett score at the Erlstoke Junior Open and his best round of the year was 74 gross at Chippenham Golf Club.

The award was established in memory of Robert Hill and is a fitting tribute to his love of the game.

It was Robert’s wish that talented young players should be recognised and encouraged to build on their skills and confidence.
