NEBOSH

Craig Skett passes NEBOSH with a perfect 100%

Craig Skett, MRF Supervisor, Waste Solutions (right), has recently passed The National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH) qualification with flying colours.

Craig said: “I’m happy I passed the NEBOSH course as it’s widely recognised and can play an important part in ensuring the health and safety of people working around me. As I work evening shifts, I’m the only person at the facility in a supervisory position, highlighting the need for general safety awareness. This course has helped me recognise near-misses and how to minimise the risk of accidents, especially during new and evolving plant breakdown scenarios where external contractors are also present.” Matt Nicholls, Recycling Area Manager, Waste Solutions (left), said: “The waste industry has a high risk of accidents, so it’s important to be able to recognise hazards and be able to reduce the possible impacts of undertaking activities on sites. The Sands Farm MRF is a busy and noisy environment, with contractors often visiting the site whose wellbeing Hills is also responsible for. Increasing the number of staff who hold the NEBOSH qualification will improve the safety of our workplaces.”
