BLACK WOMEN BUILD LEGACIES 365 DAYS A YEAR.

For many, today is the first day of lifting up Black women and our communities on social media for 28 days - also known as Black History Month. For The Highland Project, today is day 29 of 2023 in celebrating the abundance of legacies imagined, designed, built, and sustained by Black women. Why? Because legacy building never stops.

In our second edition of Abundance, we are celebrating the legacy visions of women in the Highland Community. Their legacies continue and build upon our shared history as a Black community and the visions we inherited from our ancestors.

The magazine is curated into three stories. The first represents our legacies as Black women centering abundance, equity, and collectivism. The second, a call to action to redefine wealth as access to multi-generational opportunity. The third, a set of values and intentions we aspire to see centered in the creation and design of solutions.

As Black History Month begins, let us remember: we are more than a month. We are building legacies of abundance 365 days a year. Join us today and every day in:

Celebrating the legacies of Black women in your community Redefining opportunity to truly be for all Centering the lived experiences, aspirations, and brilliance of Black women

In community,

OURLEGACIES CELEBRATING

We are imagining worlds, seven generations from now, that center abundance, joy, and thriving communities.

"My vision for the next seven generations forward includes a roadmap that addresses: poverty, health and well-being, clean water and sanitation, sustainable cities and communities, climate action and reduced inequalities. Utilizing community partners, educational institutions, corporations and strengthening our global agenda will be critical in the path forward for THP Fellows. Shaping intergovernmental processes through advocacy and policy will be one of the main activities that I support. Lastly, assisting the dismantling of systems that serve to keep BIPOC communities disenfranchised is a major priority with environmental justice on the forefront."

A world where we use and know how to connect our work to our calling and learn this from the stories of how generations before have done this I see my future generational lineage knowing how to stand for justice, remembering how to love, care, laugh, and share through living lives that connect and transmit to others wholeness. It will take our entire global village to co-labor with Black people to actualize our full potential in the global African Diaspora. My vision for now and the future is to create a mass conversion of people using their power and choice to advance equity across sectors, in families, and in communities, so that we can all experience joy, love, healing, and freedom My legacy work aims to get to this global state of joy, love, healing, and freedom in two ways: healing teams and transforming systems that stifle equity and justice through Developing Capacity Coaching (DCC) while simultaneously healing individuals and transforming communities through multi-prong freedom strategies with GiveSankofa Together, DCC and GiveSankofa create a collective impact strategy that operates with a multisector, multigenerational and intersectional lens that intertwines race, class, and gender through a global movement for healing, freedom, and justice. Like Harriet, we may have to walk alone...to quicken change or to slow down demands, to listen to our own heartbeats or to release to the sky.
