John Henry has shown his sculptures extensively since the early 1960s. His sculptures have become part of public and private landscapes and collections throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. In addition to having taught at numerous universities and art institutes, he has been the recipient of many awards and recognitions. Henry has also served on the Board of Trustees of the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts and on the board of the International Sculpture Center in various leadership roles.

Jason Kimes lives and works in southeastern Mississippi where he spent his childhood. Before returning to the region, he received his MFA from University of Southern Illinois. Easily recognizable for its simple elegant lines, excellent craftsmanship, and iconic imagery, the work of Enrique AlfĂŠrez has become an integral part the Mexican-born AlfĂŠrez followed the sculptor to Chicago before moving to New Orleans in 1929. AlfĂŠrez was a driven artist, dedicated to the democratic ideal of public art. AlfĂŠrez died in 1999. His legacy of work, both public and private, stands as a testament to a life dedicated to art.

James Surls was born in East Texas in 1943. The state would be the site of his artistic development and success over several decades. Upon returning to Texas after receiving his MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of Art, Surls began an extensive teaching career in Texas universities. While teaching at the University of Houston near his home

sculptures have been exhibited and collected widely. Surls now resides in Carbondale, Colorado.

David Borgerding relocated to New Orleans in 2000 after obtaining his MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design. That year, he quickly found a studio and resumed his sculpture practice focusing on fabricated bronze and stainless steel. In 2008, Borgerding built his current studio on Chippewa Street in the Irish Channel neighborhood of New Orleans. He has been consistently active in the studio, working on large public and private sculpture commissions as well as smaller pedestal-sized works.

Emmy and Academy Award winning artist Wesley Wofford works from his private studio in the mountainous National Forest of North Carolina. large commissions, portraits, gallery pieces, and maquette studies for submissions. He continuously participates in both indoor and outdoor exhibitions throughout the country. Trisha Kyner and David Friedheim live and work together under the name Grendel’s Mother in a converted 1950s grocery store on the outskirts of Baltimore. They met more than a decade ago as fellow faculty at The Crucible, a California school devoted to sculpture. Grendel’s Mother holds degrees from UC Santa Cruz, SUNY at Binghamton, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Maryland Institute College of Art, and the University of Montana. They have taught at a number of institutions in the BaltimoreWashington area.

Mark di Suvero was born in Shanghai, China in 1933. He immigrated to the United States in 1941 and received a BA in Philosophy from UC Berkeley. di Suvero began showing his Abstract Expressionist work in the late 1950s. His architectural-scale sculptures—many with moving elements that invite viewer participation—have been exhibited in the United States, Japan and Europe. Internationally recognized, di Suvero has received numerous awards and has also helped establish several institutions committed to helping the arts and artists.
