April Buzz from The HEAL Project Â

APRIL 2016 Dear THP Community-Spring is in full swing here at The HEAL Project, with several exciting programs and events on the horizon. We are preparing for a day of community philanthropy as a part of Silicon Valley Gives on May 3 while we reflect on the generosity displayed by the success of last month's Spring Ahead event. Our Board of Directors has an important message and invitation for the Coastside community and a call for Farmers' Market volunteers. The farm is also gearing up for an action-packed summer of camps, so make sure to check out the six weeks of themed farm camps The HEAL Project has to offer - spots are filling up fast!

Warmly,

Amy Bono-Kruckewitt

SAVE THE DATE: May 3 - Silicon Valley Gives

On Tuesday, May 3, 2016, Silicon Valley Gives will raise money for local nonprofits— including The HEAL Project. This 24-hour online giving event is aimed at inspiring and uniting our local community to support philanthropic causes. The HEAL Project has received three generous matching grants for a total of $17,000. This means that dollar for dollar, your donation will be doubled on May 3. Every dollar helps us make a greater, positive impact on our children and community. Mark your calendars to support The HEAL Project by donating through our Razoo fundraising page on May 3 and help us meet our goal of $34,000!

A Big Spring Ahead Thank You!

Thousands of dollars raised, dozens of local produce donated, six fabulous courses, three collections of local and craft beverages, one outstanding Spring Ahead. We received an exceptional level of support from generous guests, which has provided $17,000 in matching funds for our upcoming day of fundraising, Silicon Valley Gives, on May 3 as well as funding towards a new tractor for the farm.

Welcome, Coastside Children's Program Garden Club! The HEAL Project has been thrilled to partake in new partnership this Spring with the Coastside Children's Program (CCP). One day a week for twelve weeks, Montara and Half Moon Bay CCP preschoolers will be exploring their environment through hands-on garden based activities. This program was made possible through funding provided by Big Lift.

Calling All Marketeers!

Diana and Alma (pictured above) helped us run our Farmers' Market booth last season and learned exciting new skills such as flower arrangement and money management. Hey 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students/parents: Do you love The HEAL Project? Do you like going to the Farmers' Market and learning about where your food comes from? Then come volunteer with us Saturday mornings at our Farmers' Market booth as a Marketeer! See the attached form for more information. We hope to see you at the market! The Coastside Farmers' Market will be returning to Half Moon Bay Saturday, May 8. Make sure to stop by The HEAL Project's booth and check out all of the student grown produce we will have for sale - chard, beets, lettuce mix, radishes, rosemary, mint, cilantro, and strawberries!

The Board of Directors of The HEAL Project Needs Your Help!

The HEAL Project 2015-2016 Board of Directors. We are looking to connect with community members whose values align with our mission - to teach students how to make healthy choices for themselves and their world - and who are willing and able to contribute several hours each month actively supporting the vital work of The HEAL Project. We hope you will join us for our strategic volunteer mixer Sunday, May 1st from 3-5pm at The San Mateo County School Farm in El Granada. Please email: info@thehealproject.org if you are interested in joining us, have questions, or need directions. We hope to see you there!
