WORLDS BIGGEST COFFEE MORNING Over 160 people came along and joined the Competa World’s Biggest Coffee morning event held at Café/Bar Lorena on Friday, 25th September, 2015. Once, again, fantastic support from our local wonderful community and 1861 euros was raised to share between MacMillan Cancer Support and Cudeca Cancer Care.As always, the choice of cakes were amazing together with the selection of prizes on Liz’s terrific tombola table, thank you to everyone who contributed. Almost everyone had “a go” on the games; “Guess the Beans in the Jar” which was correctly guessed with 915 by Sheila Totney who generously donated her winning voucher back to Cudeca. The second game of “Guess the Spots on the Cake” was won by Raimundo. The wonderful spotty cake baked by Liz Bland was then auctioned and the winning bid of 20e was by Max Graham.Thank you to everyone for your support in making this event such a success. Cindy Jones

NOVEMBER EXHIBITION AT GALERIA LUZ DE LA VIDA 'Art Is Malaga, International Art & Friendships’ From 6 - 12 October the first International Art Symposium in Malaga was held. Seven artists gathered together in the national park around Competa to start the week there and to continue creating art for 3 more days at the gastronomic market in Malaga. The many works of art made over those days are being exhibited untill the 29th of November at Galeria Luz de la Vida at Competa, opposite Restaurant El Pilon.
All works are for sale. Since professional artists participated in this symposium you can expect good quality art. The two stone sculptures of Jorg van Daele were sold during the art days and be shipped to Canada!. You are cordially invited to come to the opening on Saturday, November 7th 17:00 to 19:00 hours and
‘INTERPRETACIONES’ Dear Friends, I would like to invite you to my forthcoming exhibition of paintings, drawings, prints, illustrations and artist's books at the Centro Cultural, Casa del Apero, Frigiliana Malaga from 1st December until the 31st December 2015. The theme of the exhibition is 'Interpretations' and my artwork reflects an interpretation of poems by Federico Garcia Lorca and the lyrics of Nick Drake. The inauguration evening is Saturday 12th December from 18.00 when drinks and snacks will be provided. At 19.00 the musician Keith James will also be performing his own collection of music, which is closely related to and compliments my interpretations of poems by Federico Garcia Lorca and the lyrics of Nick Drake.
