About the Artist Spring Sandstorm has dwelled in circuits of parties and plays for many years and as result is continuously concentrically circling his circles spiraling into a horror vaccuis' display of past lives and future masquerades. Influenced by austro-hungarian expression, neo-pop classicsism, and squirrels in lab coats these works often reflect a tenuous line between the human range of emotion, and intergalactic disguise. Classically trained by a spike in youths with a need for daycare yet not the experience to enter the workforce. Sandstorm is a constant collaborator with such forces as the current crew curated as well as many other gender deviant party forces of New Orleans.

About the Exhibition ETCHYNPÜFE Exhibition dates: April 10 – May 31, 2015 25% of proceeds to benefit: New Orleans Community Print Shop Youth Program CURATORIAL STATEMENT What Editions first approached Andrew Schrock, after having seen his work featured in the Airlift Music Box, and 1MISQFT. We wanted to produce a group show of all local artists, and Andrew helped introduce us to his friends and collaborators--Spring Sandstorm, Sarrah Danziger and Hugo Girl. The interests of these artists range from photography, to performance, to welding, to graffiti art--all of which will be exhibited in this show. Our challenge: find a way to curate all these eclectic mediums to a cohesive show. When discussing this we were inspired by Andrew's inflatable hydroform sculptures--we decided to use the copper etching plates to create our own inflatable sculpture. This is a nod to the traditional printmaking practice of destroying etching plates once an edition is finished, to insure a limited edition. Each artists etching plates will be welded together to form an inflatable sculpture (which we will inflate at the opening). We will be inflating, macro body images, pop icons, and one of a kind illustrations. ABOUT WHAT EDITIONS Cora Lautze and Julian Wellisz comprise What Editions - a New Orleans-based print studio that works with emerging local artists to adapt their work into printmaking media. In collaboration with these artists, what editions produces limited edition print series and curates the work for local galleries.
