Guptill blitz crushes hapless Lanka by 10 wickets ANI Christchurch: Martin Guptill continued his rich vein of form as New Zealand cruised to a 10wicket win over Sri Lanka in the second ODI at Christchurch on Monday. Chasing a paltry target of 118, Guptill was at his menacing best from the outset and in the process claimed the record for the fastest ODI halfcentury by a New Zealander, taking mere 17 balls to score 50. Van Gaal admits he's struggling to motivate Man Utd ANI London:Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has admitted that he is running out of new ways to motivate his players' mentality following their recent slump in form in the Premier League. Pressure mounted on United after they suffered their fourth consecutive defeat at the hands of Stoke City in their league clash on Saturday. "It is not so easy anymore, and after you lose four matches in a row it is much more difficult after the third match. It's like that, and the pressure of the environment shall increase so it is much more difficult," Van Gaal was quoted as saying. "So I know there are no artificial ways to solve that, we need a victory and that's very important. Langer to don Australia coach's hat for Windies tour next year

step in for Darren Lehmann briefly as coach for next year's oneday series against the
West Indies in an attempt to prolong the latter's career. With Lehmann being encouraged to take an extended rest in June next year, Langer would get his first taste of international coaching during the Caribbean tri-series, which also features South Africa. Lehmann, under whose tutelage Australia won their fifth World Cup title and home Ashes series, expressed that he would like to lift an Ashes crown in the UK after two failed attempts, in addition to a rare triumph in the subcontinent and defend the ICC's pinnacle event's 50-over title before the end of his tenure. Lehmann will take his break after the World Twenty20 which concludes in early April and will be back with the national squad for the July tour of Sri Lanka.

Oil India FC opened their
account through Jayanta Basumatary in the 14th minute. He added his second in the 30th minute. Two minutes later, Minto Boro added the teams’ third when he found the back of the net with a well-taken volley. Oil India FC players showcased great attacking skills and never let City Police to get a hold of the match. The scoreline read 4-0, after Minto Boro scored his second goal in the 30th minute.
Rahul Boro scored the lone goal for City Police in the 44th minute. The winning team received a cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with the champions trophy while the runners up got Rs 25,000. Sishu Ram Chutia of Oil India FC was adjudged the best player of the final. The prize distribution ceremony was attended by former national footballer Gilbertson Sangma.

Barca, Messi win laurels at Globe Soccer Awards Agencies Dubai: Spanish football giants Barcelona received big honours at the annual Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai on Sunday. The La Liga club, along with star player Lionel Messi triumphed at the seventh edition of the Globe Soccer Awards, taking home the prizes for best team and best player. FC Barcelona won a total of four awards -- Best Club, Best President, Best Player of the Year and Best Media Attraction in Football. Put into bat, JB College managed 119 runs in 33.2 overs before being bowled out. Gauranga Dutta topscored with 34 runs off 66 balls hitting three boundaries and one maximum. Kaustov Rajkhowa contributed a useful 22 runs with the help of one boundary. For DR College, Sanjeev Hazarika and Ronuj Phukan bagged three wickets each. Chasing the target, DR College managed to attain it losing eight wickets in 32.1 overs.
