OF
DUNHAM SCHOOL

Dear Dunham Family,

After celebrating our 40th anniversary during the 2021–2022 school year, I have had time to reflect on our past and to savor our current success. Now, our attention is firmly fixed upon crafting and capturing our bright future.

God continues to be faithful to The Dunham School in a number of amazing ways. Due the dedication and commitment of our faculty and staff and the quality of our Christian educa tion, we are experiencing unprecedented growth and demand for admission. The tremendous success of our recent graduates and alumni—much of it highlighted in the pages herein—is amazing for a school that is only 40 years old!

Thanks to a number of committed donors, we raised $4.6 million in our anniversary year, and the generosity of our Dunham community continues to be humbling. Yet, God commands, “Do not grow weary in doing good.”

So, we have bold plans to improve facilities, to develop and expand programs, to invest in our teachers and student experiences, and to continue that good work as our offering to a mighty God. I am excited about the opportunities that lie before us as we strive to make the next 40 years even better than the first.

Please join me in praying that God will continue to orches trate our steps, that we would be wise in our planning, and that God will continue to accomplish His good purpose through the work of The Dunham School!

God Bless,

Thank You for Celebrating 40 Years With Us!

From the first day of school in August 2021 to our last day in May of 2022, the Dunham community gave thanks for God’s incredible provision while enjoying a yearlong celebration of the school’s 40th anniversary. Highlights included a parade for students, faculty, staff, and alumni during Homecoming Week, memorabilia displays, a commendation from the Baton Rouge Metro Council, and an inaugural Founders Dinner to honor those who have sustained the school and its mission for the past four decades.

Founders Dinner

THE DUNHAM SCHOOL HOSTED THE INAUGURAL FOUNDERS DINNER on Friday, April 29, as part of a yearlong celebration of the school’s 40th anniversary. In addition to honoring distinguished award recipients, Dadie and Princeton Bardwell, Stephen Emery ’96, and Tracy Shean Jantzi ’90, the evening paid tribute to the school’s founders, former and current trustees, volunteer leaders, and Liz Peters Master Teachers.

Also in attendance were Lisa and Gary Gilbert, the first members of the Dunham Legacy Society, and Paul Jenkins ’94, who was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame along with fellow alumnus Ryan Darling ’94 earlier in the week. The Founders Dinner will become an annual event designed to celebrate God’s continued faithfulness and express gratitude to members of the Dunham community for their service, generosity, and dedication to the school’s mission.

PHILANTHROPY AWARD

Dadie and Princeton Bardwell

The Katharine O. Dunham Philanthropy Award was established to recognize donors who have demonstrated, through direct financial support, outstanding charitable responsibility and whose generosity encourages others to take philanthropic leadership roles at The Dunham School. Motivated and dedicated to seeing The Dunham School succeed, they have championed fundraising for the school. Recipients exemplify the same heart of giving demonstrated by Mrs. Dunham, a heart of thoughtfulness and sacrifice grounded in a desire to see The Dunham School’s mission endure.

Dadie and Princeton Bardwell have been a part of The Dunham School since its founding in 1981 when they enrolled their son, Scott, in the very first class. For the past four decades, they have served as parents, trustees, advisors, prayer warriors, donors, and now grandparents. Throughout their long history with Dunham, the Bardwells have remained steadfast champions of its financial security, often giving of their own resources and working with others to secure donations to sustain the school and its mission.

“Generosity comes very naturally to my parents,” says their daughter, Emily Bardwell Guillory ’03. “I

have seen how they have looked for opportunities to help, and I know that their reach has gone far beyond even what I am aware of.”

Princeton served two terms on the board of trustees, from 1982 to 1988 and from 2018 to 2021. He and Dadie have made prayer a top priority when seeking God’s guidance and wisdom on how they can best serve the school.

Former trustee Al Jones remembers serving on the board with Princeton during the early years of the school. “Princeton always brought us back to the word of God,” he says. “If there was a crisis we were in or something that we were struggling with, Princeton would come with his Bible and the word of

6

KATHARINE
Dadie and Princeton Bardwell attend a school event with their children, Emily Bardwell Guillory ’03, and Scott Bardwell ’91

God, and we would be encouraged and press on.”

Al Jones recollects too the important role Dadie played in those early years, particularly in times of crisis when the board met almost every day to provide sound leadership and direction for the school. “While we were meeting and trying to figure what to do, our wives would gather and pray for us. I think that probably had more to do with our success than what we were doing.”

During his second tenure on the board, Princeton had the opportunity to work alongside his son, former board chair Scott Bardwell ’91, who describes serving with his father as a “once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

Both Princeton and Dadie have used their voices and shared their wisdom to help guide the school at critical points during its 40-year history. Most recently, they provided strong counsel in the quest to eliminate current debt.

“I understood very early on that Dadie and Princeton had a commitment to both Christian education and specifically to The Dunham School,” says Head of School Steve Eagleton. “We’ve talked a lot about where we’d be without families like the

Bardwells who have not only been great examples to others in prayer, but also have given of their time and treasure to make sure that the school is sustained.”

The Bardwells’ legacy is most readily visible through the lives of their children, Scott and Emily, and their four grandchildren, Caroline ’20, Michael ’22, and Andrew Bardwell ’26, and Hazel Guillory ’33.

“We have had a child or grandchild at the school for 36 of the last 40 years,” says Princeton. “After 53 years of marriage, raising a family, and now having the joy of grandchildren, our testimony is clear. After knowing Christ and learning to walk with Him through His church, nothing has impacted our lives for good more than The Dunham School.”

TABB FAMILY DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD Tracy Shean Jantzi ’90

The Tabb Family Distinguished Service Award recognizes and celebrates an outstanding volunteer who has gone above and beyond by using his or her time and talents to better The Dunham School. So many volunteers have made such an amazing impact on our community but perhaps none more so than Mary and Donald Tabb. Without their influence, prayers, sacrifice, and determination The Dunham School would not be here today.

Tracy Shean Jantzi graduated from Dunham, then known as The Chapel Trafton School, in 1990. After attending Louisiana State University, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Southeastern Louisiana University School of Nursing. Tracy has worked in labor and delivery at Woman’s Hospital for 24 years.

Tracy’s unwavering passion for giving back is not only evident in her career, but also in her volunteer efforts as a Dunham alumna and parent. For more than a decade, she has been an active member of the Alumni Council and numerous other volunteer committees, including Breakfast with Santa. The leadership she has displayed as chair of the Dunham Carnival committee has turned the annual event into one of the largest fundraisers for the school. While Tracy will tell you she is not an official committee member for Jubilee, Teacher Appreciation Week, Field Day, and numerous other events, she has

worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure their success.

Faithfully serving the school has been a family affair for Tracy, her husband Charles, and their three children, Miles ’18, Reed ’22, and Jackson ’27. In addition to opening their home as a host family for Dunham’s foreign exchange students, Tracy and Charles have served together on the Annual Giving Parent Cabinet and as swim team liaisons for Pawbackers for many years.

Anyone who has had the pleasure of serving on a committee with her will tell you that Tracy does not merely get the job done; she goes above and beyond to make everything she touches better than it was. Tracy’s leadership, humility, and encouragement have left a lasting mark on The Dunham School. It is a great honor to present her with the inaugural Tabb Family Distinguished Service Award.

DISTINGUISHED ALUMNUS AWARD

Stephen Emery ’96

The Distinguished Alumnus Award recognizes a graduate who has made significant contributions to society and whose accomplishments, affiliations, and careers have honored the mission and legacy of The Dunham School.

Stephen Emery graduated in 1996 as part of the last class to graduate from The Chapel Trafton School. He continued his academic success at Southern Methodist University where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis on finance and economics in 2000. He later studied real estate finance at New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies.

Stephen’s passion for economics, real estate, and investing has resulted in more than two decades of professional success. During his career, he has taken great pride in helping others achieve their goals through portfolio management and advisement. He joined Mission Capital Advisors in 2002 and served as a managing director of sales and trading for a number of years. During that time, he managed and closed in excess of $6 billion in consumer loans, commercial and residential real estate loans, bankruptcy claims, and commercial and municipal equipment lease sales.

Prior to joining Mission Capital Advisors, he worked in the retail and consumer investment banking group at Bank of America Securities, LLC., where he was instrumental in raising capital in excess of $850 million for clients such as Nordstrom Department Stores, Brinker International, and Electronics Boutique. Most recently, Stephen applied his financial knowledge and expertise to grow and support sister Holly Thaggard’s growing SPF company Supergoop! by helping to secure the first round of capital investment and overseeing the recent purchase of the company.

Stephen continues to support Dunham with donations of SuperGoop! to the Dunham Cup Golf Classic. Most recently, he served as a challenge gift donor on Alumni Giving Day when he and other members of the Class of 1996 challenged other alumni to make a donation to the school in honor of Mike Jenkins’ retirement.

RYAN DARLING ’08 AND PAUL JENKINS ’94 INDUCTED INTO ATHLETICS HALL OF FAME

Ryan Darling ’08 and Paul Jenkins ’94 were inducted into the Dunham Athletics Hall of Fame on April 28, 2022. As the newest members of the Hall of Fame, Ryan and Paul join an elite group of Dunham athletes and coaches who have left a lasting legacy on the Dunham athletics program and demonstrate the qualities that make them champions on and off of the field. Previous inductees include Sean Cangelosi ’96, Chris Barker Chaffin ’92, Reggie Griffith ’99, Todd Kinchen ’87, John Howard ’87, Cary Koch ’05, Mitch McIlwain ’94, Leigh Myers ’08, Lauren Haynes Parks ’10, Coach Joey Thibodeaux, and Sarah McKey Waggoner ’03

One of the most decorated athletes in school history, Ryan Darling earned eight individual state titles in cross country and track and field. In 2006, he was a track and field state champion in the 1600m and 3200m and also claimed the state title in cross country. The following year, he earned three additional track and field state titles in the 800m, 1600m, and 3200m. Ryan finished his senior season in 2008 as the 1600m (indoor) and 1600m (outdoor) state champion.

Paul Jenkins excelled at a high level as a multi-sport athlete. During his high school football career, he set school records for touchdowns and points scored. In his senior year, he helped the football team complete the regular season undefeated at 10-0 and led in the state for scoring. He earned a scholarship to Louisiana Tech where he played as a wide receiver.

Paul also lettered four years in basketball, was a valuable starter on the Class 1A State Runner Up baseball team, and was a talented club soccer player.

Rob Sullivan Receives 2022 Liz Peters Master Teacher Award

At graduation on May 21, Middle School teacher Rob Sullivan received the 2022 Liz Peters Master Teacher Award given to a faculty member who exemplifies excellence in the classroom.

While presenting the award, Dean of Faculty Deedra LaPlace stated, “Mr. Sullivan is a role model for students as a lifelong learner who holds a bachelor’s degree in political science, a master’s degree in public policy, and an education specialist degree in curriculum and instruction. He has also has demonstrated spiritual leadership during his tenure at Dunham, taking an active role in presenting chapel talks for students and devotionals for faculty meetings. With his positive attitude, warm smile, and love for Christ and his students, he truly exemplifies the mission of The Dunham School.”

Mr. Sullivan has served the school faithfully since 2013, primarily as a Middle School history and literature teacher, but also as an assistant football coach, basketball coach, sixth grade team leader, Middle School House Love faculty sponsor, and trip leader for the annual seventh grade D.C. trip. In addition, he also has served as the history department chair, director of the Regional History Bee, and faculty sponsor for the Campfire Youth Legislature.

“I am honored beyond what words can express to even be considered for this award. I have been blessed to be at The Dunham School with families who are invested in their children’s education, students who are actively engaged in their learning, and co-workers who are passionate about what they do,” Mr. Sullivan said.

“This award encourages me to continue to innovate within the classroom and to find new ways to lift students to their potential and beyond. As a teacher, I know that I may not always see the fruits of my labor firsthand. This award reminds me that the impact I have, no matter when it is realized, is worth the effort of pouring a love of history and Jesus Christ into my students daily.”

Joshua Harris ’22 Named National Merit Scholar

Last spring the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced that graduating senior Joshua Harris had advanced from Finalist to National Merit Scholar. Joshua is one of approximately 7,500 high school graduates who received National Merit Scholarships for college undergraduate study.

Named salutatorian for the Class of 2022, Joshua ended his high school academic career with a 4.46 cumulative grade point average. In addition, he was recognized as an AP Scholar with Distinction and scored a remarkable 35 on the ACT. Joshua is now enrolled in the Honors College at Louisiana State University where he plans to pursue a double major in math and computer science.

Joshua is the sixth Dunham graduate to be named a National Merit Scholar in recent years, following in the footsteps of alumni Gabby Walker ’17, Alyssa Sharbaugh ’18, Parker Harris ’19, Luke Russell ’19, and Ciara Venable ’21.

Additional members of the Class of 2022 to receive National Merit recognition include Devyani Vij, who was named a Finalist, and Maddie Benton, Sydney Boudreaux, Connor Eagleton, and Patrick Murphy, who were designated as Commended Students.

Seniors Receive National Merit Recognition

In September, Jackson Ford ’23, Jake Rizzo ’23, and Austin Stevens ’23 were named Semifinalists in the 68th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. In addition, Elizabeth McDonald ’23 and Caylin Pixley ’23 were recognized as National Merit Commended Students.

“We are incredibly proud of these five academically talented students who have earned National Merit recognition this year,” said Head of Upper School Amanda McIlwain. “These outstanding seniors embody the pursuit of excellence in all things which we value greatly at Dunham.”

As three of the approximately 16,000 Semifinalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship program, Jackson, Jake, and Austin now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for 7,250 National Merit Scholarships, worth nearly $28 million that will be offered in the spring of 2023.

High school students enter the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/ National Merit Qualifying Test (PSAT-NMSQT) in the fall of their junior year. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, which includes the highest scoring entrants in each state, represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.

Senior Duo Recognized by College Board

Rhaia Davey ’23 and Kari Johnson ’23 have been named National African American Recognition Program Scholars by the College Board.

This academic honors program recognizes exceptional African American students who have scored in the top 10 percent in the state on the PSAT-NMSQT or earned a score of 3 or higher (on a five-point scale) on two or more Advanced Placement® (AP) exams by their junior year. To qualify, they must also have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.

The program also helps students connect with colleges, universities, and scholarship programs across the country by sharing their achievements through the College Board Student Search Service. As a result, students may receive interest from schools that include special recognition or scholarship opportunities.

The Dunham School is proud to announce that Kennedy Morgan ’22 received a $1,500 scholarship from the Neighbors Capital Area Foundation.

Kennedy now attends Baylor University where she plans to major in elementary education. During her senior year, she was named an AP Scholar® as well as a National African American Recognition Program Scholar and served as Upper School publicity prefect. Kennedy is the daughter of Dana and Brian Morgan (pictured above).

Established in 2018, the Neighbors Way Tuition Assistance Award was developed in an effort to help subsidize the cost of tuition for students entering their first year of college. Area schools that participate in the Neighbors Mascot Checking Program are invited to nominate one graduating senior to receive the scholarship each year. Students are nominated based on their character and commitment to the credit union’s core values of integrity, respect, trust, stability, community involvement, honesty, empathy, ethical behavior, and fairness.

Congratulations to Kennedy on this well-deserved honor and many thanks to the Neighbors Capital Area Foundation and Neighbors Federal Credit Union.

She has been selected to serve as the Connections Prefect during the 2022–2023 school year. A cancer survivor who battled acute lymphoblastic leukemia at age nine, Jordyn exhibits the same strength of character and determination as a fierce competitor on the Dunham track and field team. After making the switch from gymnastics to track and field during the 2021-2022 school year, she claimed the 2022 2A state championship title in the 100-meter dash in her firstever state meet.

Welcome to Dunham!

Hilary Morris and Aaron Nasers Earn Louisiana Coach of the Year Honors

The Dunham School is proud to announce that two members of our athletics staff have earned Louisiana Coach of the Year Honors, Hilary Morris as 2021-2022 NFHS Louisiana Boys Swimming Coach of the Year and Aaron Nasers as 2021-2022 NHSACA Louisiana Boys Cross Country Coach of the Year.

Hilary Morris, who also serves as head coach for girls basketball and PE department chair, saw the small but mighty boys swim team break records to claim six individual titles and capture second place overall at the 2021-2022 Division IV State Swim Meet last November. Competing with just eight swimmers, the team had three double state individual champions in Tiago Faleiros ’22, Patrick Murphy ’22, and Reed Jantzi ’22

“I am thankful I had the opportunity to coach a very talented group of young men. It was truly a blessing helping them reach the heights of their potential,” said Coach Morris, who continued, “Dunham’s Class of 2022 male swimmers broke one city record, three state records, and won eight out of the 11 events at the state championship meet. I give all the credit to these young men. Their accomplishments will be tough to match. I would also like to give a special thanks to our assistant coach, Daniel Zielinski.”

Under Coach Aaron Nasers’ tutelage, the boys cross country team won the Class 2A State Championship last fall, a historic victory that ended cross-town rival Episcopal’s longtime winning streak and saw John Walker McDonald ’22 claim his second individual state title. Nasers, who was named the 2021–2022 All-Metro Cross Country Coach of the Year as well, also serves as head coach for track and field.

“I am blown away at this incredible honor,” said Coach Nasers. “I am thankful to The Lord who has blessed me with the opportunity to coach with two amazing men, Coach Zach Capello and Coach Ed Van Haute, and having a team full of such wonderful young men! Our team took hold of the vision, overcame adversity, and worked hard to become state champions. The grit and togetherness they displayed made for a special year that I will always remember.”

Congratulations to Coach Morris and Coach Nasers for their selection as coaches of the year.

Mrs. Carville has more than nine years of experience in differentiated instruction and special education, including three years in administration. From her previous roles as a senior special education coordinator at BASIS Baton Rouge and developmental needs specialist at Grace Life Preschool, she is adept at collaborating with teachers, families, and service providers to develop and implement support plans to maximize learning for students with learning differences. In addition, Haley spent six and a half years in the classroom, working with students of all ages.

Sherry Swanner Retires from Upper School Faculty

Upper School English teacher Sherry Swanner retired at the end of the 2021 2022 school year. Mrs. Swanner joined Trafton Academy in 1981 as the school’s first English teacher. In addition to teaching literature to students in grades 8 12, she served as a sponsor for the Beta Club, National Honor Society, and junior class and organized several student trips to England and Scotland.

After The Chapel School purchased the Trafton campus in 1986, she continued to teach high school English and sponsor the same student clubs until 1988 when she retired from The Chapel Trafton School. In 2009, Mrs. Swanner returned to Dunham as an individual class teacher and tutor in the McKay Academic Center. She joined the Upper School faculty as a full-time English teacher in 2016.

A reception was held in May to thank Mrs. Swanner for her dedication to her students and the school. The Dunham community prays that God will bless her and her family as she begins the next chapter of her life.

Barbara Germany Retires as Director of the McKay Academic Center

Barbara Germany retired as director of the McKay Academic Center in July. Mrs. Germany, who joined Dunham in 2012, was instrumental in the growth and development of the MAC program and in establishing the reputation for success that the program now holds in the larger Baton Rouge community.

In announcing her decision to retire, Mrs. Germany said, “My time spent with my Dunham students and families has been one of my highest blessings, and I am continually humbled by the role I have been fortunate to play in each student’s journey. I fondly call each of these students and families ‘my’ students and ‘my’ families’ and pray regularly for God’s blessings for them.”

“I am thankful for Barbara’s passion and advocacy for all students’ ability to learn, despite challenges and difficulties, and I speak on behalf of my fellow administrators when I say that we have all been blessed and amazed by working alongside such a caring and godly educator,” said Head of School Steve Eagleton

The Dunham community thanks Mrs. Germany for her service and dedication to the school. Although she will be missed as an administrator, she graciously has agreed to be of counsel and work in a part-time capacity for the 2022 2023 school year.

TIGER RUNNERS CLAIM THREE INDIVIDUAL STATE TITLES

TIGER RUNNERS WENT THE DISTANCE LAST SPRING to bring home three individual championship titles at the LHSAA 2A State Track Meet on May 6.

John Walker McDonald ’22 claimed the 1600m and 3200m titles, becoming the back-to-back state champion in both events. McDonald also claimed the 1600m and 3200m titles at both the district and regional track meets and was named Out standing Male Track Athlete for the district, before continuing his winning streak with his newest state titles. John Walker ends his high school career with nine state titles.

Coach Aaron Nasers dubbed rising track star Jordyn Minor ’23 “the fastest girl in 2A” after she took the girls state title in the 100m and placed third in the 200m with less than six months of experience on the track. Earlier in the season, Jordyn was the only triple-winner at the district meet, taking first place in the

100m, 200m, and long jump before going to claim the regional titles in the 100m and 200m. Tiger fans should expect to see much more of Minor next season after such a strong start this year.

Riley Ries ’23, who claimed district and regional championships in the 3200m, had a strong showing at the state meet where she placed second in the 3200m and third in the 1600m, setting new school records for both events at the state meet.

Matthew Weiner ’22 placed fifth in shot put while Reese Davis ’23, Antonio Delgado ’22, and Samay Mirpuri ’24 also qualified for the state meet, joining McDonald on the 4x800 relay team.

After strong finishes at the state meet, the team continued to rack up post-season honors with a number of track and field athletes named to the Academic All-State, All-Region, and All-District teams (see complete list on page 31).

Alumni Profile

A MINISTRY THROUGH FITNESS: Hayden Clark ’10

Hayden Clark ’10, owner of Iron Tribe Fitness in Baton Rouge, has a clear vision for his growing business. His aim is to create fitness communities that change lives through three things—fitness, nutrition, and accountability. And for nearly six years, Hayden and his team have done just that by helping people of all ages and walks of life achieve an overall higher quality of life by becoming the healthiest and best versions of themselves.

“Most people need a place to go, people to work out with, and a plan to follow,” he says. “What makes Iron Tribe Fitness unique is that we provide all of the above, resulting in life-changing results.”

Hayden’s journey into fitness training began after high school when he managed the front desk and became a personal trainer at Spectrum Fitness Southdowns. While there, he had the opportunity to open Spectrum’s functional fitness area, called Gorilla Fitness, where he led group classes.

Despite his background in personal training, becoming a business owner in the industry wasn’t on his original game plan. During his senior year at Dunham, Hayden had a significant experience that changed the course of his life and had him thinking about a career in the ministry.

HAYDEN CLARK ’10

As he explains, “Pretty simple, I had a road to Damascus conversion to faith on my senior beach retreat. The encouragement, support, and resources I received to grow in my relationship with Jesus and my understanding of true life after that retreat changed my life forever. Honestly, I’m not sure where I would be today given the path I was on prior to that trip.”

It was while completing his degree in Christian ministry at Leavell College in New Orleans that he first became acquainted with Iron Tribe. In 2014, engaged to be married and looking to secure a full-time job, Hayden heard from a friend that newly opened Iron Tribe Fitness in the city’s Central Business District was hiring.

After interviewing and accepting a position, Hayden began to sense that God was connecting the dots between his passion for fitness and his desire to help others. It wasn’t until he received a phone call about a year later, however, that his focus shifted from full-time vocational ministry to ministry through fitness. That phone call was from former Iron Tribe president Jim Cavale inquiring about Hayden’s interest in becoming a franchise owner in Baton Rouge.

“I took the approach of moving forward with the possibility of becoming a franchisee until God shut the door. He never did,” says Hayden, who opened Iron Tribe Fitness on Acadian Thruway in January of 2017. Since then, the company has grown to include 10 full-time team members as well as a second location on Perkins Road that opened earlier this year.

Iron Tribe’s success has been amazing to Hayden, who hopes to add more loca tions in the future. “I would never have imagined I’d be where I am today,” he says. “God has been very kind to us, and we have been able to change the lives of so many people since opening our doors.”

Reflecting upon his time as a Dunham student, Hayden says he continues to have an ongoing respect and appreciation for the school and especially his teachers. “By God’s grace and my formative time at Dunham I have been prepared to face life with a

strong sense of identity and purpose that helps me walk a very centered, steady, and fulfilling life,” he explains. “I have to say that Bible teacher and chaplain Lance Hahn had the biggest impact on my life and has been like a father figure helping me through many ups and downs since graduation.”

When asked what advice he would offer to high school seniors as they consider their college and career options, Hayden recommends that they make those decisions based on their unique gifts and wiring while considering the impact they will have on others. “Money will come and go,” he says, “but elevating other people’s quality of life will last and bring a lot more satisfaction. You will live a life of purpose, generosity, and fulfillment.”

His other advice? Not to be distracted by the pursuits of others. “Find your lane and become the best you can be in that lane,” he says. “You cannot be the best in the world in a multitude of vocations. Stay the course, and the byproduct will often be success.”

Hayden recently signed on to participate in Dunham’s Corporate Sponsorship Program.

Explaining the reasoning behind his decision to support the school through a sponsorship, Hayden says, “Our company’s values, mission, and strong sense of community align well with Dunham’s, and it feels great to play a small role in the school’s continued mission given the impact it had on me personally. Also, our new location is a barely a rock’s throw down the road on Perkins, and we would be honored to serve the Dunham community.”

Hayden and his wife, Jeneé, have three children, Hayden (5), Harper John (3), and Hazel (8 months). Outside of work and family, he enjoys spending time with friends and his church family. His other pursuits include being outdoors, exer cise, reading, and traveling.

Dunham in Europe

In June 2022, a group of Dunham students, faculty, parents, and grandparents traveled to Ireland, Wales, Scotland, and England for 11 days. We started our adventure in Dublin, Ireland, where we were greeted by a full rainbow across the beautiful Irish countryside. We enjoyed the charming towns of Kilkenny and Waterford before exploring Wales and Edinburgh, Scotland. Our tour concluded in London and Windsor, where the Queen was in residence. When news of the Queen’s death broke this fall, the students in our group expressed how grateful they were for the opportunity to tour Great Britain while she was alive. After seeing them so deeply connected to the history unfolding before their eyes, I knew that student travel is one of the best ways to educate the mind and heart.
