FARMLA Farmland by Pixels is a 5K collection of player owned housing for a game called Pixels Online. Pixels Online is a Stardew Valley inspired play-toearn MMO with a heavy focus on farming mechanics and interoperability with existing NFT collections (think Worldwide Webb). The project is led by Luke Barwikowski and has notably received over $2M in strategic funding in a round led by Animoca Brands and PKO Investments, an investment syndicate including executives from Twitch, Rotten Tomatoes, Fitbit and others. The plot thickened during the team’s trait reveal space on Twitter where they confirmed Opensea as an investor which in turn had triggered an influx of Discord degens asking “wen announcement?” every day for over a week.

Game Before Gains One of the things that stand out about this project is that the developers play their own game. As shocking as this may sound for the average degen looking to flip, the team actively avoid any conversations about

Frosstech and many other active community members can be found actively supporting newcomers in the discord every day, providing tips around gameplay mechanics, and shooing the fudders. Still not convinced? Listen to any Pixels.online Twitter space, their approach to community engagement and ability to articulate their progress transparently in weekly sessions are a refreshing change of pace from most gaming NFT projects which focus on selling-out before releasing anything. So if a multiplayer Stardew Valley for NFTs sounds interesting to you, now is a good time to do your own research on pixels online. The project is in the process of team-building and a number of big features are expected to drop over the next couple months . With only 5K farmlands in existence and 9% listed it’s entirely possible that this project could quickly exceed its 0.6Ξ floor price following some momentum, but the main thing we would recommend is trying out the game, if you find it fun then that’s really all that matters.

Arabella Arabella Proffer is a painter & published author whose works have been exhibited around the world for over two decades. The punk turned crypto-punk just recently launched their first NFT collection on February 4th titled The Ornate Acids – named after Arabella’s last solo show of biomorphic paintings, a series which brought together the artist’s interest in botany, microbiology, space, and the evolution of cells. Arabella is living with terminal cancer and has talked about the topic very honestly on her blog Arty Farty, including how NFTs provide an opportunity to preserve the artist’s digital identity. We sat down with Arabella to discuss all of this in more detail.

Q.

Can you tell us more about how you got into NFTs and its role regarding your legacy?

A. I got into NFTs through a

friend who is a project manager on these type of things, and I was asked to be on the advisory board for TreeTrunk which launches soon. I will be doing an exclusive with them. Well, I figured I should do my own collection as it seemed like a good way for my art legacy to live on. I am terminal, and painting has become difficult,

and so it seems like a go idea. I am already plann second collection of my p work.

Q. As a self-described

newbie what do you th about the space and h being used as an art-f Just a trend or here to

A.

I’m not sure, becaus remember thinking emai going to be a fad. At the time I was an early adop for a lot of other things. artwork I think it is grea showing provenance, sel and especially things like and concerts.

I think the amount of pe the space will drop off, b right now it is a lot of no and garbage to sift throu but once those people gi it’ll be a much more plea experience. I like to tie a NFTs to a real-life object piece of art. People can s images all they want but won’t be able to offer wh As far as an art commun has been wonderful. Muc welcoming than others.

look what happened. However, this time, instead of being dicks who ignored the signs like the major labels did, the art world is paying attention and big auction houses are partaking already. If this gets people into art at an early age, that can only be a good thing.

Q. You’ve talked very

Thank you, thank you so much. Yes I wanted everything deleted except my website. I just didn’t see the point and I always get upset when dead friends pop up on IG or things like that. What’s interesting is there’s an org here in Cleveland that is taking care of donated paintings, ephemera like design jobs, press, and whatever is donated by my collectors when they pass on. This org takes care of it all and then mounts exhibitions and creates catalogs. So I had a real-life place to keep my work for posterity, but nothing digitally except my website. And website standards, image standards, those all change with time.

Q. Have you discovered any

new artists through NFTs?

A.

I’ve met so many and discovered: XavDeCrx, pokerchick, delta_sauce, artofcastellani, jason_balducci and more.

Q. Your art has spanned

over 2 decades, do you have a piece that means the most to you?

A.

I have a little portrait of my cat Milkshake who died too young. He was an internet sensation on CuteOverload, Gawker etc in the mid 00s. It hangs in my living room where I mostly have other artists I’ve collected since I was 21.

If you are interested in Arabella’s work we would highly recommend her book “Lips Eyes & Hair” which showcases a collection of oil paintings from the last 20 years and over 75 portraits ranging in styles and colour. The book itself was authored by Arabella whilst going through chemotherapy and radiation.

Wonde This is the first time in Drop Magazine history that we’ve ever covered a project which has not yet released, the reason for that is we have a set of quality control checks to make sure we don’t publicise any potential rugs. Often this rules out many projects pre-mint, since we look at whether the team is doxed, if the roadmap is over-promising, whether the smart contract is published, what relationships the project has with other blue-chips etc. Suffice to say Wonderpals have passed the vibe check, a 10K collection and female-led project by the talented Mina – Wonderpals has already secured partnerships with Coolcats, Alien Frens, The Littles, Pablo

business-as-usual for most NFT collections this may be a good sign that the project is focused on brand building holistically beyond the metaverse.

It feels like projects these days are minting at ridiculous prices (looking at you Pixelmon). Thankfully Wonderpals are bringing it back to the good old days with a 0.08Ξ mint. The 10K collection is set to launch on the 26th February and though appreciable artwork-based collections are becoming few and far between, Wonderpals approach to brand building and establishing partnerships prerelease is a solid indicator that it could be the next big hit.

The Habibiz are a collection of 4900 randomly generated NFTs on the Ethereum Blockchain. Led by Sultan Ramo the collection allows holders to passively generate an in-house token called $Oil. Each Habibi generates about 1K of Americas favourite import per day which can in-turn be used to purchase buy whitelist spots for upcoming projects from the Habibiz Marketplace. The team are expanding on the use of $Oil in several ways, providing new utility for holders in the form of staking, merch, future mints and more. Habibiz sit comfortably around a floor price of 1Ξ however only 4% of the collection are listed for

sale. This is before the staking mechanism has went live which is expected to drop this month, talk about a potential supply shock.

True to their namesake the artwork for this collection dons the style of Arabic crypto-punks. Habibiz come in a variety of traits and styles, even a small handful of animated Hababiz exist which reward holders with juicier $Oil gains. The collection has a modest 39% owner distribution meaning quite a few whales are in the mix, but with staking coming down the line it’s unlikely these whales are trying to flip, in-fact the current % listed despite a recent price surge would suggest they are all

ensuring all holders benefit whether you have 1 Habibiz or 100. An example of this is that you can yield % bonuses from staking your Habibiz after x number of days, this would incentives holders and discourage flipping as more $Oil will be generated passively the longer you stake your NFT. If this project can secure big whitelist opportunities and execute the staking mechanism according to plan we’re expecting bullish results.
