BEND TIME AND SPACE In American folklore the Krakow is an intelligent and magical being. The creature’s strength increases with age, wisdom, and life experience. They’re born in animal form and gain the ability to morph into a human appearance when each creature reaches a certain age, usually 100 years. They prefer to assume the shape of a beautiful woman, young girl, or elderly man and the creatures have the ability to clone the appearance of a specific individual. They can willingly manifest themselves in people’s dreams and create illusions so elaborate that they are perceived as reality. The Krakow can fly, become invisible, and oftentimes generates fire or lightning. In some regions of the world the creatures can bend time and space, changing the course of history.

In ancient times, the term Vampire did not exist; blood drinking and similar activities were attributed to mythological unseen spirits. But, in the 18th century Vampires revealed themselves. There was a frenzy of sightings in Eastern Europe, with frequent accounts of staking and grave digging to identify and kill the potential revenants. Despite being called the Age of Enlightenment, during which most folkloric legends were quelled, the belief in Vampires increased dramatically at this time resulting in what could only be called a mass hysteria throughout most of the known world.

This tapered tail powder machine is engineered to surf the white waves at a price you can afford. DEFENDERS OF AWESOME Throughout the ages, those that have stood in the defense of awesome have come in many forms. The black metal babes of the band Sorceress are a perfect example of this. This female duo is one the most controversial musical groups today and one of the most acclaimed black metal bands in the world. THE GATEWAY They say that eyes are the windows to the soul. They’re beautiful and multi-dimensional, but elusive to view. It’s considered rude as adults to lock eyes with strangers, and can be dangerous to stare down an animal. The staring game is even tough amongst two adults that are comfortable with one another. Maybe that’s why it’s amazing when young children have no reservations with their inquisitions. A child’s purity shows they have nothing to hide. No shame, no regrets, no insecurities. They are not challenged by eye contact. The Owl’s cultural significance has been drawn from ancient wisdom, and they are also not challenged by the eye. The Aborigines believe that Owls represent the souls of women. Therefore sacred, because your sister is an Owl, and the Owl is your sister. They have eyes with circles of bright yellow, within which resides a bottomless pool of molten black. If you fell in, you would never return. You would be consumed completely. CRAZY SMART You know how some people like to create drama and feed off the attention? We have friends that just looove to over-complicate things. It drives us nuts. Especially when it's not necessary, which is almost always. Or how about that kid on the hill with too many items of flare? Like he'll wear a floppy beanie over a mesh trucker cap with the brim folded up, and a mask and a bandana over that and three pairs of goggles. What a mess. It’s snowboarding dude, not a costume party. Back in the day, there was this guy with poofy white hair named Einstein. He said, "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.” If he was alive today he would shred. And it’s unlikely that he would overcomplicate the process. He definitely wouldn’t show up to the hill with three pairs of goggles on. Odds are he would seek the truth, identify what works in its most simplistic form and say, "Just give me a Normal Ass Snowboard. I want all that I need and nothing more." Listen to the guy. He was crazy smart and shit.

WHY IT’S AWESOME With so many different camber theories in the market today, it can get confusing trying to find the right one. We have talked to many riders around the world who, rightfully so, just want what they know and love. They want the shape they learned to ride on and eventually learned to rip on. HEART OF GOLD I’ve always wanted to make a board graphic that followed the motto, “sometimes the simplest ideas are still the best.” I often wonder though, how simple is too simple? In 1971, Neil Young rolled on stage and talked about playing a new song for a crowd that came to see him play that night. He strummed Em, C, D, G, and as far as guitar chords go, it doesn’t get much more simple that that. Over forty years has passed and that song is beyond classic, it’s iconic. The Micro-Scope exposes fun stuff like park jumps, bumps, boxes, and freestyle terrain for smaller riders. Welcome to the Tech Features section of our catalog. If you’re reading this, you’re the type of snowboarder that cares about details and we can assure you that details make all the difference. At CAPiTA we use only the highest quality materials available though a partnership with the most respected factory in snowboarding. Our boards have an exceptional reputation for quality in design and production as well as ride-ability. Our standards for quality control are the highest in the industry and our performance in relation to price is simply unmatched. For the all-new 2012/13 CAPiTA collection, we have refined our technical designs while implementing innovative new shaping theories and materials, once again, setting the standard for freestyle specific snowboard construction.
The Core of a snowboard is just that, the core, the heart, the soul, and the foundation for everything else that goes into a board. This very important element in large, will determine the overall characteristics of a given snowboard, even before one sheet of fiberglass is laid across it. Each CAPiTA deck starts off with a wood core, tip-to-tail, rail-to-rail, allowing for uniform flex, greater control of turn initiation, and incredibly fast response. Different species of wood along with engineered core profiles help give each deck a unique feel and targeted flex. We’ve engineered a series of core compositions, each with unique and specific characteristics, to ensure that no matter what your riding style we have your ideal snowboard. The P2 SUPERLIGHT core was built for a high performance return of energy in a lightweight and versatile core. From razor sharp turns on demand, to huge ollies, this core was engineered with all-terrain technical freestyle riding in mind. Comprised of an even mix of poplar and paulownia wood, it is strong enough to meet the needs of the Black Death customer while saving considerable weight. With Dan Brisse’s riding style in mind, our newest core was designed to perform when it’s all on the line. Ollie power, strength, dampening and reliability were terms emphasized in the design room. This poplar based core has been beefed up with bamboo stringers through the inserts as well as along the edges. This increases the energy throughout the board making it more responsive and powerful. Since bamboo is one of the strongest woods available, durability goes through the roof allowing you to go bigger, faster, and jib with confidence in even the sketchiest of scenarios. The DS SELECT core was built for next level performance. It’s lightweight, with no irregularities or finger joints which provides the most uniformly flexing core available. The DS core is constructed with the highest quality poplar and beech woods available. Beech is placed along the rails, enabling the rider to hold a solid edge while carving, eliminating chatter at high speeds and contributing more power to ollies and landings. Poplar strips are fused with the beech sections for increased strength and vibration absorption. The DS SELECT offers a consistent, comfortable, and powerful ride in a certified sustainable full wood core. The RFC SUSTAINABLE core is the original eco friendly core. Its proven track record offers an environmentally conscious consumer a sustainable alternative without sacrificing any of the energy or stability expected from a CAPiTA. These cores have been reforestation certified by a leading environmental agency for nature and habitat sustainability and made with a single species poplar grain for a smooth, consistent ride. Extending from edge to edge and tip to tail the wood grain has no knots or irregularities enhancing response and providing a completely uniform flex pattern.
FIBERGLASS CONFIGURATIONS
Fiberglass combined with a specialized resin is used on the top and bottom of the wood core to protect it from water damage and is also a very important component when controlling the torsional and longitudinal flex of our boards. When applying the resin, we use a mechanized dispensing system which accurately provides a calculated amount of resin per board to ensure the proper resin to glass ratio is achieved. This process eliminates potential dry spots, preventing delamination and ensures no weight is added from excess resin. All CAPiTA boards are made this way and feature one of the following glass and resin configurations.
CUSTOM WEAVE – BASALT
The CUSTOM WEAVE – BASALT configuration features a resin and glass application borrowed from the marine industry which yields much stronger and more rigid qualities allowing us to decrease the wood core thickness. This means you get a lighter board while achieving higher energy return. For The Black Snowboard of Death and the DBX, we’ve also added basalt wings from the inserts to the contact points for retained power and pop. Originating from solidified volcanic lava, basalt is an abundant resource long known for its thermal properties, strength, and durability.

SPECIAL BLEND EVO TECH is a wet lay-up process that uses a polyurethane based resin component requiring lower consumption of energy and yielding higher technical properties. This adhesion process improves the factory’s working environment, as it does not contain some of the same harsh chemical characteristics used in resins at other factories around the world. This configuration is an optimum blend of biaxial glass weaves laminated in conjunction with dual “black fleece” additives on top of the core. Underneath the core, this glass is beefed up by multiple shape specific 30mm carbon fiber beams to increase power output.

Engineered for ‘anytime, anywhere’ performance reliability, the SS SELECT provides a perfect balance between energy, stability, and pop. Vertically laminated poplar is lightweight and has a long grain orientation. There are no irregularities allowing for consistent uniform flex throughout the deck.
PRE-CURED 420 The WDT core was designed to give jibbers and park riders the softer flex patterns they want without sacrificing durability. Short for ‘Wood Derived Technology,’ the patented process of pressure bonding wood composite material retains the classic feel of a full wood core board while increasing flex values. Engineered for freestyle, park, and street rail boards the WDT core has high elasticity characteristics surrounding low-density wood fibers. This balance provides a new realm of lightweight, soft flexing boards, with a damp ride and dependable durability.
The E CLASS configuration also utilizes the exclusive CUSTOM WEAVE epoxy resin system which allows us to save wood core weight by leveraging increased resin performance. The Stairmaster EXTREME retains the same high energy Park Perfect™ longitudinal and torsional flex it’s known for, while the Totally FK’N Awesome series features dual 30mm carbon fiber wings from the inserts to the contact points for retained power and pop.

The FORM 6-C glass configuration consists of 612g/m2 biaxial fiberglass laminated with the SPECIAL BLEND EVO TECH resin to increase energy and durability. The FORM 6-K glass configuration consists of 612g/m2 biaxial fiberglass placed on both the base and topside of the core at zero and 90 degree angles. This configuration results in a board that initiates turns easily, while retaining the pop necessary to handle variable conditions. The FORM 6 glass configuration is laid up wet by hand during the lamination process. These boards feature carbon kevlar stringers to further increase ollie power and response.
Engineered to compliment the WDT core construction, the PRE-CURED 420 configuration consists of 370 grams of e-glass in the zero direction and 50 grams of e-glass in the 90 direction. It’s pre-cured for consistency and exits the mold with a high yield of energy memory.

There are two basic types of base material used in our industry: extruded and sintered. If you don’t like to wax often, but you do repair your base when necessary, extruded is for you. If you are more interested in going faster longer, sintered is your base.
Wax Infused Rotation Sintered Base
These bases are created by taking pellets of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene and compressing them through heat and pressure. The miniscule spaces left behind absorb wax and allow for extended periods of high speed shredding as the wax wicks to the surface while you ride. This prevents your base from drying out and keeps the surface feeling freshly waxed throughout the day. Properly maintained sintered bases are fast, durable, and the overwhelming choice of pro snowboarders worldwide.

Extruded base material responds differently than sintered due to its lower molecular weight. This type of base is the easiest to maintain and excels in park attacks and urban jibbing. It repairs easily and when waxed, extruded base material provides excellent performance.
A radial sidecut is a single radius design causing your board to start and finish a turn on the same arc.
Engineered specifically for deep powder riding, this radial sidecut is complemented by a tapered tail. This narrower tail section naturally sinks in the powder while wider nose section floats above the snow line. The result is less work and more fun as the board surfs on one smooth continual arc.
Technology integrated into snowboard construction affects many characteristics of a board’s performance. Flex, along with weight, stability, energy and other factors come into play when considering whether a board is right for you. Flex may also be the most important because it will determine how you will be able to manipulate your board on snow. Soft, flexible boards are great for jibbing and making your snowboard do what you want, when you want. They’re easy to ride and very forgiving. Stiffer boards have more pop, more energy, and more stability at high speeds but they require more effort and skill from the rider as well. All boards in this catalog are rated on a scale from 1 to 10. The number given is the estimated resistance the board would provide to the average customer. 1 would be the resistance of a noodle, 10 would be the resistance of a tree trunk.

With the level of hype surrounding reverse camber, it’s clear that this snowboard design theory is here to stay. However, it’s how that theory is actually applied that will differentiate board designs and make one ride better than another. With Flat Kick design technology we’ve tightened the profile radius that blends the shoulders of the board into the tip and tail height. This is a key area that influences the tempo and feel of turn initiation. With traditional larger tip and tail arcs, the loaded camber contributes to a board’s acceleration into a turn. On reverse camber boards the contact points are elevated, removing this camber contribution. As a result, the same traditional tip and tail radii would make the board feel sluggish. Specialized Flat Kick tip and tail arcs combined with elevated reverse camber contact points achieve the ideal tempo into turns. This allows you to have the shorter effective edge of a forgiving, easy to ride, reverse camber snowboard that is still responsive and quick edge to edge.
