With the decline in the economic climate and the high number of unemployed, not entled to any state aid we have seen an increase in the number of burglaries.

Therefore we need to all become more proacve and take the iniave:

* If away from your property for more than 1 hour make sure a neighbour is aware and keeps an eye on your property. Also tell them if you are having workmen on your property.

* Arrange with a couple of friends that if you call them because of a disturbance at your home or you see someone on your property, that they will drive round with lights on to scare off the intruders.

* When you go on holiday ensure someone looks aer your home and patrols the garden checking the fence for any cuts/breaks.

* Ensure you have a powerful 2000 lux lamp charged up, to shine around your garden.

Once again I think it important to make people aware that purses/bags, wallets should at all mes be kept with you, on no account leave bags on the floor or hung over the back of your chair. It only takes a momentary lack of concentraon and the thief is in. It is important to ensure that you have copies of all documents and cards just in case you are le to pick up the pieces such as: Contacng DVLC if an English licence, or traffico if Spanish, Consulates, Banks, Credit cards services, taking a translator with you to make a Denuncia, for insurance claim purposes the list is endless just because of that moments lack of concentraon. It is also worth remembering if you do not need it then dont take it with you. I know we are all guilty of this somemes.
