Governors Club is a nationally recognized private club community located in Chapel Hill. It features an award-winning 27-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course in the Triangle’s only gated golf community. This member-owned country club has been awarded Platinum Club of America and Distinguished Club status. The Clubhouse serves as the social center of the community and provides members with world-class dining and events, while the Wellness Center is a separate facility dedicated to members’ health and fitness. Governors Club is committed to continually improving facilities – nearly all amenities have been renovated over the past 5 years with more plans underway, including a full reconstruction of the Clubhouse kitchen, reimagined outdoor dining area, casual and formal dining rooms and bar area; expansions and enhancements to the Wellness Center gym, group fitness studios, indoor and outdoor pools; a golf course renovation; HVAC updates; and the addition of a Pickleball facility to the tennis complex. Governors Club members hail from across the U.S., many having lived in various countries around the world. The Club hosts more than 400 events and activities year-round—there is something for everyone.

Governors Club is searching for a committed, proactive, and passionate culinary professional, who enjoys working in an engaging private club environment and one who has the ability to select the perfect enhancements to make a lasting impression. The Executive Sous Chef will coordinate and oversee all daily aspects of the culinary operation to ensure the quality and consistency of the dining experience. This professional should have strong leadership skills and a desire to promote growth and development within their department. The Executive Sous Chef should have the ability to act as a thought partner with the Executive Chef and Front of House leadership.

▪ A mind for innovation and action with an ability to create unique experiences and offerings for the membership ▪ The ability to excel in both banquet and a la carte production, demonstrating the skills to meticulously plan and execute large scale events. ▪ Demonstrate creativity in menu design, exhibiting an appreciation for the Club’s culinary traditions, while exploring fresh and innovative culinary trends. ▪ The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to team members, club leadership, and members ▪ Exhibit disciplined follow-through to ensure the vision and goals of the Club come to fruition. ▪ Cultivate a high-level of member satisfaction through consistency in the dining experience. ▪ Work with the Front of House leadership team to address and resolve all member and guest complaints and suggestions. ▪ Work with the Executive Chef to monitor labor and food cost as outlined in the annual budget.

qualifications

Preferred ✓

A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive leadership and management experience in a culinary hospitality environment.

Experience in a luxury hospitality club setting considered a valuable asset.

Food safety certification.

Certification from American Culinary Federation or other hospitality association a plus

A degree from a post-secondary culinary arts program.

Salary and Benefits Salary is open and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Club offers an excellent bonus and benefits package. The position is available immediately.
