An international humanitarian and a tireless advocate for peace and social justice, Ron served for 27 years in Congress, as well as Mayor of Oakland and Berkeley City Councilmember. He has been a transformative leader in movements to end the Vietnam War, apartheid in South Africa, and nuclear de-‐militarization. He was also an early leader in movements to promote the environment and social justice for women, labor, immigrants, gays and lesbians, AIDS prevention, and boys and men of color. His new venture, The Dellums Institute for Social Justice: educate + mobilize + create change, will develop next gen leaders and mobilize non-‐traditional coalitions on structural solutions to economic and climate justice.
