RULES:
1. Two age categories: Junior Ambassador – competitors should be in grades 6, 7, or 8 in September of this year. Senior Ambassador – competitors should be 17 years of age by August of this year and to be 18 by next year’s Canadian National Exhibition. And to be no older than 23 years of age by August of this year.
These are the Canadian National Exhibition rules. 2. Must be a resident of the Georgian Triangle area. 3. Be willing to take part in the entire fair weekend and follow up with parades, banquets, and other events as required to enhance the fair representation in the community. Will be required to stay at the fair each day until all ribbons and presentations are done, as required by various committees. 4. Open to young people of both genders. Not available to previous winners of the scholarship. 5. Along with your application, prepare a one page typed biography highlighting the following points: You and your family, school life, hobbies and interests, and future goals. 6. Juniors will prepare a 2 to 3 minute speech. Seniors are to prepare a 4 to 5 minute speech. Topics are: agriculture, rural life, or fairs. The speech will be presented before judges and the fair audience. 7. Junior and Senior competitors will answer an impromptu question from the judges. 8. Contestants will attend a social event sometime before the fair for interviews with the judges and a rehearsal. The date will depend on the availability of all persons involved. One parent should attend if possible for the under 18’s. Display photos will be taken at this time. Senior competitors will sign the contract. 9. The outgoing ambassador will receive his/her $1000 cheque when he/she gives up the crown on the
Friday evening at the end of their reign. 2nd place will receive $200.00, 3rd place will receive $100.00, and 4th place will receive $50.00. Juniors will receive $100.00 for 1st place, $75.00 for 2nd place, and $50.00 for 3rd place. We do not announce the names of the last 2 competitors. All candidates will receive gift packages appropriate for their gender and age. 10. All senior competitors must sign a contract with the
Ambassador Committee prior to competition night to understand their yearly duties. A parent must be present at the time of signing. Signing will take place at the interview night held the week before the competition. 11. Applications are available at the Fair Office 705-4440308, on our website www.greatnorthernex.com or from one of the committee members listed above. 12. Deadline for entries will be the weekend before the Fair of this year and will be closed sooner if 4 senior and 5 junior competitors have submitted their entries. Contact committee members to make sure the application was received. 13. Changes and adjustments may be made at the discretion of the judges and committee members before the Fair of this year, if deemed necessary.
