EDITOR’S LETTER TEAM + COVER

WELCOME TO WINTER … is it just me or is it a little chillier than normal this year?

Luckily, we have plenty to keep you cosy in this special ‘Home Comforts’ edition.

Let’s start with the stunning cover shot, which was styled by the team behind Brisbane Fashion Festival.

This popular event returns to the city in August, and inside we preview this year’s program and give you a sneak peek at which designers and retailers are bringing their styles to the runway (a little hint, the gorgeous green dress Katie models on the cover is from Samantha Ogilvie).

Katie is also wearing an amazing necklace by renowned Brisbane jewellery designer Margot McKinney.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Margot for our City Icon profile ahead of the opening of her much-anticipated exhibition World of Wonder: Margot McKinney at Museum of Brisbane and she has such a fascinating story to tell.

Speaking of stories, our main feature in this edition is record-breaking author John Grisham.

Inspired by the real-life dramas that played out in the courtroom, this former lawyer has sold over 300 million copies worldwide, including no less than 28 consecutive number one fiction bestsellers over the past three decades.

Now, moving on to the rest of the magazine.

As mentioned, this is our Home Comforts edition so our special advertising feature is filled with everything you need to give your living spaces a makeover … we are talking furniture, flooring, artworks, kitchen design, décor items and much, much more.

Our contributors have been busy as well with Marj heading to Tasmania’s ‘wild west’ for a well-earned break, Tony taste testing some of Australia’s superluxe red wines and Adam offering some timely advice when it comes to your winter fitness regime.

Finally, if you are looking for a really fun way to warm up, why not enter our latest competition.

Our friends at D-Still Drinkware are giving one lucky reader the chance to win a cocktail making class for 10 people, complete with complimentary nibbles and a take home 3-piece cocktail kit. Details are on page 24.

Good luck.
