Member Reward Program Just a reminder that the 2011-2012 WCI Member Reward Program, exclusively for Golf Members of WCI Clubs, ends on October 31, 2012. Reward points must be redeemed by October 31, 2012, after which they shall have no value. This program was developed so that WCI Members received rewards from TaylorMade when bringing guests to golf at WCI courses. Upon check-in at the posted guest rate, the guest receives a complimentary sleeve of TaylorMade® golf balls. The WCI Member will receive a rewards card to record the member guest rounds played at The Colony, or other participating WCI Golf Courses. The Member receives points for each guest round played which are redeemed for TaylorMade merchandise. This has been a very popular program and a new 2012-2013 WCI Member Reward Program is in the works! Update on Online Bill Pay Option on the Members Website The Online Bill Pay option was disabled earlier this summer, while we setup a new payment system that will provide our Members with more online payment options. We anticipate the Online Bill Pay option will be enabled in early September and will provide more information at that time on your payment options and how to setup automatic payments. We thank you for your patience during this time as we setup the new online bill pay and please stay tuned for more information!

Tennis Tip Men’s Round Robin

Hit “Down the Middle” for Success in Doubles

Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:00am Round Robin play provides participants with fun, social Mary Fink, Director of Tennis doubles where partners and opponents mix up between rounds. It provides a great opportunity to play with various levels of players on a regular basis. Sign up is required. Please call The Sports Center at (239) 390-4750 to sign up!

The “middle” of the court in doubles can be defined as the area that exists between the two players. When you hit “through the middle,” you increase your chances of winning the point for several reasons:

Men’s Instructional Clinic

Hitting through the middle often creates confusion between the two opposing players, as they may not know which player is responsible for the coverage of the shot. The net is lowest in the middle and there is more court area to hit to, thus providing you a higher margin for error.

Thursday at 9:00am Emphasis is placed on stroke production, strategy, shot selection and conditioning through both live and dead ball drills. Come on out and join the fun! Sign up is encouraged. Please call The Sports Center at (239) 390-4750 to sign up!

Ladies 3.5 Clinic Thursday at 9:00am

Open Drill Clinic Friday at 9:00am

Hitting through the middle minimizes your opponent’s options by taking away the angles they would otherwise have available when you hit to the outsides of the court. Practice hitting “down the middle” to solve the riddle for more success in doubles!

Round Robin Tennis Guidelines • 3 courts maximum (12 players) • Please sign up to be guaranteed a spot as space is limited • Please send a substitute if you need to cancel (may choose a guest and guest fee will be waived) • First 12 players are guaranteed a spot, additional players will be placed on the waiting list

Tennis Instruction Private and semi-private tennis lessons are available. Please call Mary Fink or Pieter Kriek to schedule lessons at (239) 390-4750.

Get the Most from Your Club’s Wellness Options Whether you enjoy the intrinsic value of simply working out, playing golf, tennis or any other physical activity, it is imperative to keep your body in balance using a variety of techniques and options available to you. Often massage therapy is considered a luxury and is used only for relaxation benefits, although it offers much more. For example, massage therapy improves circulation which can enhance the body’s ability to utilize oxygen more efficiently. In addition, metabolic waste and lactic acid that builds up in the body after a workout, is dissipated through massage therapy. Finally, massage therapy promotes flexibility and range of motion which can and will help reduce the chance for injury. In short, regular massage therapy can help promote overall wellness through improved circulation, flexibility and the dissipation of metabolic waste. To book a massage service at The Colony Golf & Country Club, please call Velda at (239) 390-4761.
