La vivienda existente en la colonia de el salitre y colinas del lago es una de las mas necesitadas ya que muchos son asentamientos irregulares y los materiales y calidad de construccion no son los mejores, para eso se diseñó un plan de mejoramiento que incluye asesoría para la autoconstrucción de la vivienda, reforzamiento de la estructura en algunas viviendas. y un plan de limpieza para eliminar escombros y basura de algunas casas y terrenos baldios.

Otro plan que se busca implementar son sistemas de captacion pluviales que permitan su filtración y almacenamiento para poder hacer uso dentro de algunos espacios de la vivienda y en areas verdes como jardines.

El excedente de agua que no pueda ser almacenado será enviado directamente a los humedales, los cuales se encargarán de filtrar y enviar el agua a la presa.
