Our oldest neighborhoods date to the 1880s and are found along the river. Four historic districts are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Near Southside and Riverside historic districts are primarily residential areas with a mix of design styles from Queen Anne and American Foursquare to Craftsman and Mechanics’ Cottages. The Downtown Historic District shows our roots as a “river town;” architectural styles range from early “boomtown” structures to Tudor Revival and Moderns, spanning a period from 1880 to the mid-1950s. The University of North Dakota Historic District encompasses the central campus and most of the sorority and fraternity houses. UND has one of the largest collections of Collegiate Gothic architecture in the United States. Our local lenders offer excellent financing programs, including V.A., F.H.A., conventional, American Dream and first-time homebuyers programs. You can also find down payment and closing cost assistance programs.
