David Applebaum, an architect to the stars in Hollywood, recalled their efforts to have ZZ Top play at the senior prom in 1976. “[The album] Tres Hombres had just come out,” said David. “We just couldn’t get through to them.” David has lived and worked in Los Angeles for more than 20 years and had the opportunity to meet ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons. A group of 28 Pin Oak Middle School seventh and eighth graders embarked on a 10-day adventure to Paris and Munich with the Pin Oak Middle School foreign-language program. Highlights of the trip were going to a Munich market and getting some delicious fresh fruit, taking a cooking class in Paris, and taking a train ride from Paris to Munich.
