Pershing alumni wed

After a reception full of Pershing Pandas, Aggies and family, they honeymooned in Ambergris Caye, Belize.

Horn teamwork

Josh and Dever Hanchera met at Pershing Middle School, where they took drama and Spanish together in seventh grade. They were also involved with the West University Methodist youth group and went on a mission trip to Costa Rica together. Dever grew up in Bellaire with parents Jack and Claire Lorenz and her three younger siblings, Lee, Libby and Jack Jr. Josh grew up in West University with parents Dan and Mary Hanchera and his three younger siblings, Gabby, Rachel and Michael. All eight Lorenz and Hanchera children attended Pershing, where Dever's mom is a teacher. Dever went to Bellaire High School, and Josh attended Lamar High School, and both went to Texas A&M. The couple married at West University Methodist Church with their former youth leader, Josh Arrington, assisting in the ceremony. BELLAIRE BUZZ APRIL 2018 44

Condit Elementary recently hosted its third annual International Festival. The International Festival (or I-Fest) is a family-friendly event that celebrates the cultural diversity and international community at Condit. Students, including (pictured, from left) Meghan Laws, Gianna Vela and Isabel Munro, dressed up in their cultural costumes for the parade of nations, where over 50 countries were represented. Condit students auditioned to perform. The performances included a Bollywood-inspired dance, traditional Chinese music played on a guzheng (Chinese folk instrument that sounds similar to a harp), a traditional Indian dance and a traditional Mexican dance. Condit teachers also worked on class projects with their students that families were able to view at I-Fest. Chairs were Rachel Berger, Peggy Chang, Alicia Escamilla, Barbara Garibaldi and Samir Mehta.

Wine winners Harrison’s Heroes hosted a wine tasting at the Racquet Club featuring a wine sampling and a wine toss. Guests sipped wine and enjoyed light bites. Brett and Andi Riesenfeld (pictured, from left) won the grand prize wine raffle. Harrison’s Heroes was founded in memory of

The fifth graders, along with STEM Lab teacher Alex Jones, showcased Dash robots and CoDrones, programmable drone kits. They were part of a donation from Chevron, the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation and 3M, in order to help students use logic and teamwork to learn programming and coding skills.
