Buzz About Town Let’s get physical Emma Lapin and Julia Minkowitz (pictured, from left) and lots of families got into shape at Evelyn’s Park at the first Family Fit Day. The day focused on fitness, nutrition, wellness and safety. Residents of all ages participated in 20-minute exercise classes provided by West U Fitness, Row, Bellaire Parks and Recreation Department,
Evelyn Rubenstein Jewish Community Center, Yoga One, Define Body & Mind and more. They learned how to cook and eat healthy foods. There was a health and safety expo, and doctors were there to answer health-related questions. Kids had a ball in the kids’ zone. The entire event was free.

Church. Luncheon chairs were Liz and Matt Rotan, and speaker and Chrysalis Award recipient was Elizabeth McIngvale. Her parents, Linda and Jim McIngvale, were honorary chairs. Elizabeth told a powerfully honest story of her illness and recovery from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and her father gave his perspective of her illness. Elizabeth’s accomplishments include earning a master’s degree and a doctoral degree in social work. She is a licensed master social worker and has founded her own non-profit foundation, Peace of
