JCR President Update
I don’t know where to start! This term has been phenomenally busy, we’ve had Refreshers, the JCR Committee Elections and our first ever Charity Fashion Show in Durham!
The Charity Fashion Show was a complete success planned by our amazing Outreach Officer, Rebecca Fraser and a dedicated Fashion Show Exec and Models ranging from first to fourth years. The event raised £5,000 for 'Heads Up' a local mental health charity for students in Durham. The night was amazing and I can’t thank all those involved enough for all of their hard work.

Running for elections is on the rise with a lot of interest from all year groups with over 30% of the student population voting. It was extremely close in all elections so congratulations to everyone who ran and congratulations to those who were elected.

As part of our College PRIDE week, our two amazing Welfare Officers, Ellie Caley and Jack Judge, have booked Keegan Hirst. Keegan is a professional rugby league footballer, currently playing for Wakefield Trinity, and was the first British professional rugby league player to come out as gay. I know this is going to be an amazing event due to the hard work of Ellie and Jack!
On the sporting front the Netball Girls went up against Men’s Rugby and Football in a charity netball match which raised £214 for Cancer Research UK and amazing achievement! Congratulations are also in order for Mens Football (A) team having successfully been promoted back into the Premier League.
Our Sports and Societies continue to grow with both the Plant Society and Baking Society being our most recent societies to be ratified. Our brand new theatre company 'Blizzard' deliver their first production, Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' in North Road Methodist Church this Term.

Now with the final term of the year approaching, we have the Summer Ball, College Day, Sports and Societies Awards and so much more to look forward to! Thank you to the JCR Committee who put so many hours into ensuring John Snow remains the best College in Durham. Thank you to everyone who has jumped in and is involved in College life!
