GAME PREVIEW:
Benedictine advanced to the AAAA semifinals with a 48-13 win over Riverdale. This is the fourth time the Cadets have made it to the Final Four since 2013. BC’s offense has succeeded all season with a balance of run and pass. Holden Geriner has thrown for almost 2,500 yards with 23 touchdowns. LeShon Brooks and Justin Thomas lead the ground game with Thomas also being the second-leading receiver on the team and accounting for 22 total TDs. Trent Broadnax, who signed with Duke, is the leading receiver with 58 catches and 14 TDs. The defense had maybe its best game in the quarterfinals. The front seven pressured the quarterback most of the night and Bryce Baker, Holden Sapp, and Thomas all came up with interceptions. BC is attempting to advance to the state championship game for

the first time since 2016.
Jefferson advanced to the Final Four with a win over Carver-Columbus. Since winning a state championship in 2012, the Dragons have advanced to at least the state quarterfinals seven of the last nine seasons. The 2020 team is undefeated and has been nothing short of dominant. The defense has held opponents to 14 points or less in nine of 11 games with four shutouts. The offense runs a high-powered, triple-option attack which has scored 40 or more points in seven games. Malaki Starks runs the offense from his quarterback position. The blue-chip recruit averages more than 10 yards per carry and has offers from most prominent programs, including Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia. He also will be a force in the secondary. The defense is fast and physical. Giving up an average of nine points a game, there is no weakness in the entire unit. The winner will play Marist or Bainbridge for a state championship Dec. 29.
