Mama and papa reprimand his loud hops and twirls, Until they cannot take enough, and switch off the light. Every night, this pattern proceeds, Fun and games are always cut short. Time trickles on at a sluggish speed, Laughing and jumping is a forgotten sort. The sword that he used to slice dragonheads, Now rests under textbooks and valuable silk. And white sheets used as capes and small boat sails, Made friends with sly rats and hot spoiled milk. Fairies and pirates took a different route, For mama and papa have ordered forever lights out.
