ABOUT AFTERDARK@THEARC

HISTORY Our annual fundraising gala, AfterDark@THEARC is a night of cocktails, cultural performances, delightful entertainment and a deliciously prepared dinner held in celebration of THEARC’s partner organizations. Community members, foreign dignitaries, political figures, corporate supporters and neighboring non-profit organizations attended the first AfterDark @THEARC in 2010, and witnessed the talent of our aspiring artists, dancers and musicians first-hand. The cocktail reception was held within our lobby and on the front sidewalk, the theater revue in THEARC Theater, and the main program & seated dinner in our regulation-sized gymnasium! This has become our model for hosting this highly anticipated social event; to bring guests east of the Anacostia River to display how THEARC makes an impact on our community!

ENTERTAINMENT Aside from showcasing performances by our young students from The Washington Ballet at THEARC, Levine Music and diverse local talent – BBAR and THEARC Theater staff seek out headline acts to not only participate in the fun, but to serve as a surprise treat to our partners and donors for their hard work and constant support. In the past, we have welcomed mezzo-soprano, Denise Graves; God-father of Go-Go, Chuck Brown; and Jazz greats, Roberta Flack & Frédéric Yonnet to perform at THEARC Theater or in our gymnasium, which has been beautifully transformed into a luxe banquet hall.
