The current couple living in the house are a retired couple that would like to make their landscaping more contemporary, this was our task for the design. A select color pallet of greens, blues and purples was the main focus and seeing what plants would fit in well while giving the property a modern face lift. There were three areas of focus: the side bbq area/outdoor kitchen, front yard and private yard off of the master bedroom. The Italian Cypress was used to give the outdoor spaces a sense of enclosure and privacy. In the front yard there is a water wall to give a sense of peace, when the owners are out front watching the neighborhood or reading a book. The private garden is a meditation garden, fully enclosed and only accessible by the master bedroom. There is an Olive tree, some lavender and a usable planter that can all help with self concentration. Hand Drawn

The W Hotel plaza is located on Manhattan in New York. This space serves as a place for the hotels visitors to relax and unwind outdoors. They can enjoy a semi private space or get a bite to eat at the Hotel’s restaurant. The plaza is in front of a one way street so the noise is quite mitigated by a trellis that the visitors can experience. The space has multiple water features including a reflection pool in a meditation square. Programs Used: Photoshop

The plaza design project was to see if we had a scene of space. We were given a file then our task was to render it in Photoshop, with the only requirement being it had to have a water feature with an art piece. I saw the space as being a college campus in a public or urban area. What would I want in such a space is reflected in the rendering. Programs Used: Photoshop

Beacon Plaza is one block away from AT&T Stadium and is in between two residential apartment towers; with a Safeway, offices and other shops on the ground floor. The objective was to make the space more contemporary while incorporating a place for a yoga class. The design has the yoga space in the center of the plaza, surrounded by a 4 foot wall and accompanying cypress trees, to give a safer, slightly enclosed feeling while still being outside. Hand Drawn

St. Francis Plaza is located in San Francisco’s Northbeach neighborhood in front of St. Francis Cathedral. Currently the site is a through street for vehicular traffic. The area has a vibrant night life and a lively weekend vibe. The objective was to figure out a way to incorporate those aspects of the surrounding context while at the same time make it fitting for the cathedral. The plaza is split into two areas, a meeting area for post service gatherings, and a area with numerous up lights and seating for both day time and night time leisure. Programs Used: SketchUp

Prism Alley is located near San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf. The objective was to take the Argonaut Hotel’s Side Alley and it a desirable location to hang out. My attraction happened to be a water wall that flows into an interactive infinity pool. Within the pool there are extruding prisms of glass as well as granite slabs cut into triangles to cross the water feature. Hand Drawn

The objective for this park was to cater to residents of the area while still making it available for cops to patrol the site with minimal obstructions; as well as creating a way of fully getting from one end of the park to the other. We had to keep the existing programs such as two parks for two different age groups, a community garden lawn for visitors and digs, a basketball court ans a sports field. BEFORE

The objective of the Portland Waterfront project was to take a site that is currently underutilized or in bad shape and give it a vivacious remodel and that a “green aspect had to be incorporated. Because it is a Pacific North west site in a scenic space, I chose deciduous trees so that people can experience all the seasons as they walk along the Portland water front. It revives the area and as well makes an overall nice place to be. Programs Used: Photoshop

For the Fort Point Tidal Pier, we were tasked to figure out how to get a full view of the bridge without having to utilize the restricted North point of the site. My solution was to create two separate pier system on either side that go in and out with the tide on a track. This way you could experience the point as well as the bridge at multiple tides and with out utilizing a boat. Hand Drawn.
