Creating the environment for jobs growth right across the country is a key priority for me. There are many advantages for companies like Ortec to choose our regions to set up their business and I welcome their decision to choose Newcastle West. These are exactly the kind of high quality graduate jobs that we seek to attract and it is a strong vote of confidence for Ireland and our regions that Ortec Inc. has decided to establish its European Headquarters here. I wish Ortec Inc. and their team every success in Ireland.” Announcing the investment, Ortec Inc.’s Senior Vice President Christopher Brotherton said: “This is our first investment outside of the US, and we are pleased to be doing it in Ireland. It is a strategic part of our global expansion. Bringing the project to this stage has required a great deal of collaboration. The developers Peter Byrne, Derry McMahon, and Stephen O’Donovan have been tireless in promoting our project, the town, and the entire area. We are excited to be part of the community in Newcastle West.” Minister for Tourism and Sport Patrick O’Donovan TD said: "I welcome the announcement today by Ortec Inc., that it will establish its European Headquarters in Newcastle West in County Limerick, along with the manufacturing jobs that this will bring to the area. LIXNAW HURLING CLUB Huge Congrats to our U15’s who won the North Kerry Championship last Thursday evening with a massive win over Tralee Parnell. The game was played at a very well prepared Causeway venue and from the off we were reminded that Tralee Parnells were going to be a lively outfit, but our boys looked hungry and sharp with some of their scores a joy to watch. The game ended Lixnaw 3-15 Tralee Parnells 1-05. The panel included: Ciaran Walsh, Robert O Brien, Niall Cullen, Jason Buckley, Tommy Kenny, Jack Brosnan(0-4), Cillian Trophy, Evan McCarthy, Rory McAuliffe(0-1), James McMahon, Aodhan Shanahan(0-2), Thomas Barrett, Billy Stack, Mikey Kelliher(3-04), Jack Leen(0-2), Colin Waltz, Shaun Shanahan, Jack Goggin. Well done to the whole squad of players and management team who over the last number of weeks have really put a lot of hard work into getting ready for this game which now sees us North Kerry Champions. Fixtures; North Kerry U21 Championship Semi Final Lixnaw V Crotta on Sat Sept 17th. Time and venue to be confirmed Results; County Minor Hurling Championship Final Lixnaw; 0-9 Crotta; 0-11 LIXNAW MINORS; Bad day at the office for our treble chasing minors last Sunday in Austin Stack Park when they lost to Crotta in the final of the county minor hurling championship. Two points separated the teams at the finish 0-11 to 0-9 and I suppose at the end of it all the influential Barry O’Mahony was the difference between the teams. Crotta had a dream start playing with the breeze when they were four points to no score ahead after five minutes. Lixnaw gradually eased their way into the match with two points from Shane Conway. With the Lixnaw backs defending outstanding only two points still separated the teams at half time 0-5 to 0-3 in favour of Crotta. With the strong wind now at their backs Lixnaw hit Crotta for four unanswered after the restart and looked like they were going to power home. However Crotta dug deepest and registered two points to level the match. There was no looking back for Crotta from here on despite Shane Conway pointing a massive long range free to level matters with five minutes remaining. Crotta sealed the deal in the final analysis with two Barry Mahony points, one from play and one free to nail the Sean Lovett cup for the first time in their history. Congratulations to all associated with Crotta, enjoy to the fullest. Commiserations to Lixnaw who will be back again to enjoy better days in Austin Stack Park. Panel; Robert Silles, Orann O’Connell, Conor O’Keeffe, Jack Allen, Daire Shannon, Liam Mullins, Shane McElligott, Darragh McElligott, Brendan Angland, Jamie Galvin, Shane Conway, Mike Dennehy, Brian McAuliffe, Thomas Molyneaux, Colin Sheehy, Steven Keane, Jack Brosnan, David Allen, Sean Kelliher, Cillian Fitzgerald, Matthew Pike, Niall Cullen, Colin Waltz, Rory McAuliffe, James King. Scorers; Shane Conway; 0-8. Jamie Galvin; 0-1. Thanks also the team management of Tommy Molyneaux, Nick Mullins, Willie Dowling, Mike Kelliher and trainers John Griffin and Eddie Murphy. ALL IRELAND SENIOR HURLING FINAL Congratulations to Katelyn Stack, (Stacks Londis) who had the honour of played at half-time in the Tipperary v Kilkenny All Ireland Senior Hurling final in Croke Park recently. This was a great achievement by Katelyn which I’m sure she enjoyed to the fullest. LIXNAW HURLING CLUB LOTTO Jackpot; €4,500. Numbers drawn; 1, 3, 16, 27. No Jackpot winner. €20; Jack Goggin, Gortinaire; Nollag McCarthy, Finuge; Pat Galvin, Crotta; Sharon O’Keeffe, Deerpark; Jason Wallace, Ballinageragh. Next draw at Quilters Bar on Monday for a jackpot of €4, 600.

The special performance will be for one night only in the Bentley Suite of the Clayton Crown hotel, Cricklewood. The play, written by Criostóir Barrett Ballybowler, is based in 1970’s rural Ireland and follows the lives of ordinary country folk. It addresses themes such as neighbourhood rivalry, love and unexpected incidents that bring comedic value to the play. The Spike Players Drama Group, from Knocknagoshel, Co. Kerry, was set up in September 2009 when Josephine Roche sourced drama classes from the Kerry Education Service. The late Noelie Roche was a member of that class and Padraig Dennehy was the tutor. After Noelie's sudden death in November 2009, it was decided to call the group Spike Players dedicated to the memory of the late Noelie, known locally as ‘Spike’. Spike Players started on stage with a Variety Show in 2010 which was a huge success. In 2011, they staged the hilarious play The Troubled Bachelors and, in 2012, they staged another amusing comedy the Wigs on the Green. Tickets are £10.00 and available on the door or on pre-sale from the Danny Sullivan Group head office in Park Royal London. To purchase tickets or for more information about the event, please contact Siobhan on 0208 961 1900 or email siobhant@dannysullivan.co.uk COISTE NA NOG The U14s were the only group in action this week. The group started the week by travelling to Brosna to take on Knock/Brosna in the North Kerry League. Despite some early opposition from the home team the Ballyduff players knuckled down and pulled away in the second half with a solid win. There was no time to sit back as the boys were straight into the U14 North Kerry Division 1 final against Beale in Finuge on Friday night. These two teams having met already in the contest were ready for battle, with Ballyduff being tipped as hot favourites. Our U14s started strong with a flurry of early goals in the first two minutes, and gathered momentum to lead well at half-time. The second half saw some nice football from both sides however the game was over as a contest. In the end Nathan McGrath accepted the trophy on behalf of Ballyduff and Ethan

O’Connor received a deserved man of the match prize. Well done to the players and mentors for a terrific season. Ballyduff Ball Wall The next round of Club gear will go on sale shortly. A Christmas Club will run for the next five weeks on Thursdays from 7.30pm – 8.30pm and Saturdays from 10.30am11.30am upstairs in the Clubhouse. The gear will cater for all age-groups from kids (from 2 years) up to adults. Check Ballyduff Ball Wall Facebook page for details, there will also be catalogues available to view in the Clubhouse. This would be the perfect gift to send family away from home for Christmas. “Sideline to 5K” Autumn Fitness Group We are one month away from the start of the Ballyduff GAA and Coiste na nÓg’s Autumn Health and Wellbeing initiative for club members, supporters and friends! The “Sideline to 5K” programme will consist of weekly group training sessions and friendly support over a ten-week period building up to a 5K run on St. Stephen’s Day. If you are interested in getting off the sidelines and taking part, this is your chance. Best of all it is absolutely free! Keep an eye on the Ballyduff Coiste na nÓg Facebook page and the weekly club notes for updates, or contact Tim Segal to find out more. SENIOR HURLING Ballyduff and Kilmoyley must do it all over again as the County Senior Hurling championship final ended in a draw on Sunday last after one of the best hurling games seen at Austin Stacks Park for a number of years. Ballyduff began the game in whirlwind fashion and led 1 – 3 to 0 – 0 after the opening ten minutes with the goal coming from Padraig Boyle. The defending champions, Kilmoyley, gradually clawed their way back into the game and a rather fortuitous goal saw them take the lead by the 17th minute 1 – 5 to 1 – 3. Ballyduff added four more points to their opponents two in the remaining minutes and the sides retired on level terms at 1 – 7 a piece. Kilmoyley fired over three early second half frees to gain the initiative once more and by the end of the third quarter they led 1 – 13 to 1 – 10. The sides swapped scores but with three minutes remaining Ballyduff trailed by four points but a Jack Goulding point and a fantastic goal from Liam “Jap” Boyle leveled matters approaching full time. The referee added three minutes and when Kilmoyley added a point in the second minute it looked all over. However Bobby O’Sullivan rose high to catch the puck out and he was fouled on halfway and with coolness personified Padraig “Podge” Boyle floated the ball between the posts to send the game to a replay. Ballyduff lined out as follows: PJ O’Gorman; Thomas Slattery, Paud Costello, David O’Grady; Eoin Ross, Padraig O’Grady (Capt.), Anthony O’Carroll; Daniel O’Carroll, Mikey Boyle (0 – 30; Padraig Boyle (1 – 6, 3f), Liam Boyle (1 – 0), Barry O’Grady (0 – 1); Jack Goulding (0 – 4), Gary O’Brien, John Hussey. SUBS: Eric O’Connor for E Ross; Bobby O’Sullivan for J Hussey; David Goulding for G O’Brien; Joe Murphy, Sean Browne, Paul O’Carroll, Aidan Boyle, Michael Hussey, Kevin Bowler, Declan Bowler, Cathal Kearney, Colm Boyle. The County Senior Hurling Championship final replay will be played at Austin Stack Park on Saturday September 24th at 5.00pm. Miss it at your peril.

JUBILEE TEAM The 1991 Ballyduff Senior hurling Team was honoured at a lovely function held in Lowe's Bar on Friday night last. Present Chairman Teddy O'Sullivan, who was also Chairman in 1991, welcomed everyone and introduced the special guests. Vice-Chairman of Kerry County Board Diarmuid OSé thanked Ballyduff Club for the contribution it had made to Kerry hurling over the years and spoke of the contribution that both Teddy and Gerald McKenna had made to the County at Officer level. Gerald McKenna then spoke and paid lovely tributes to each player on their achievements during their playing careers. Jimmy O'Sullivan captain in 1991 spoke of his pride in being captain of the team and how he was inspired by teams before his time and hoped that the present team would inspire the younger players to carry on the great tradition in the Club. All present were loud in their praise for the beautiful meal served on the night. Thanks to Phil, Kathleen and Staff. On Sunday the team was presented to the crowd at half-time in the Senior Hurling Championship final. YOGA CLASSES IN LISTOWEL ARMS HOTEL Starting Tues 20th September, Thurs 22nd September and Friday 23rd September (morning class). Contact Michael on 087 2700518 or visit www.kerryyoga.ie

MOUNT!

By Jilly Cooper Rupert is consumed by one obsession: that Love Rat, his adored grey horse, be proclaimed champion stallion. He longs to trounce Roberto’s Revenge, the stallion owned by his detested rival Cosmo Rannaldini, which means abandoning his racing empire at Penscombe and his darling wife Taggie, and chasing winners in the richest races worldwide, from Dubai to Los Angeles to Melbourne. Luckily, the fort at home is held by Rupert’s assistant Gav, a genius with horses, fancied by every stable lass, but damaged by alcoholism and a vile wife. When Gala, a grieving but ravishing Zimbabwean widow moves to Penscombe as carer for Rupert’s wayward father, it is not just Gav who is attracted to her: a returning Rupert finds himself dangerously tempted. Gala adores horses, and when she switches to working in the yard, her carer’s job is taken by a devastatingly handsome South African man who claims to be gay but seems far keener on caring for the angelic Taggie. And as increasingly sinister acts of sabotage strike at Penscombe, the game of musical loose boxes gathers apace…

RESULTS: Co SFL Div 3: Regulation playoff: Ballydonoghue 2-10 -v- Keel 2-10. At the end of normal time. After extra time the sides were still level at 2-13 apiece. We certainly put those disappointing performances of the past few weeks behind us in this game. Even though we didn’t get the required win we still live to fight another day. After putting in a tenacious performance that saw every player to a man leave everything on the field of play and one can ask for no more than that. Considering the wet and windy conditions, this turned out to be a high scoring game that had supporters on the edge of their seats until the final whistle deep in injury time of extra time. It was great credit to both sets of players to serve up such an entertaining and exciting game. We led by a point at half time 1-4 to 8pts. After we raced into a three point lead right from the start. We still led by two with five mins to half time but then Keel goaled to take the lead. But points from Darragh Sheehy and Paul Kennelly gave us that one point advantage at the break. Playing into the wind in the second half we had it all to do but 10 mins in we were five points to the good after Jack Foley found the Keel net 1-10 to 1-05. Keel then kicked three points without reply before Damien O’Carroll finished off a good Ballydonoghue move for our second goal. As we approached the final minutes Keel pulled a point back and deep in injury time, were awarded a penalty that left just a point between the sides and seven minutes into injury time a 45m free that took the game to extra time 2-10 apiece. In extra time we were two points up at half time playing with the wind. Keel threw everything at us in the second period. We still held a two point advantage as we went into injury time after both sides had exchanged points. Keel then made it a one point game and as the clocked ticked on they were awarded not for the first time in the game a rather dubious free that they duly converted as the referee blew for full time. Team: Darragh O’Shea, Stephen Lonergan (capt), Colm O’Mahony, Conor Kennelly, Diarmuid Behan, Jason Foley, Jack Gogarty, Eamon Walsh, John O’Mahony, Jim Cremin, Darragh Sheehy, Damien O’Carroll, Jack Foley, Paul Kennelly, Kieran Lynch. Subs: Darren O'Connor, Gearoid Kissane, Stephen Foley, Brian Mason (played), William Kissane, Kevin O'Donnell (played), Billy Foley (played), Sean Lyons, Kevin Cremin. ALL IRELAND MINOR FINAL: Best of luck to Micheal Foley and the Kerry minor team. When the go for three in a row against Galway in the minor final.

Cooper All Ireland U14 Blitz The Kerry U14 Team made the long trip to Naomh Mearnog GAA Club in Portmarnock Co Dublin on Saturday last for the All Ireland U14 Blitz. Kerry were in a group with Meath, Cavan, Westmeath and Down. Kerry won all their group games and qualified for a semi Final against Tyrone who topped their own group. Unfortunately after an early start and 4 tough group games Kerry ran out of steam and were just beaten by a hungrier Tyrone team on a score line of 1.5 to 0.2 points. The Kerry girls shouldn't be too disappointed as they gave a great account of themselves and a number of the girls have huge potential to go forward and represent Kerry at adult level in years to come . Well done to the girls and the management team for the effort they have given. Results Causeway Camogie U14 Limerick Championship Causeway 7-4 Ahane 5-3

CHAMPIONSHIP DRAW. The North Kerry Football Championship draws which was due to take place on Friday September 2nd had to be postponed and is now re-scheduled to go ahead on Friday September 23rd commencing at 8pm sharp. The venue once again will be McMunns Hotel and Restaurant Ballybunion where Greg and Una have once again kindly sponsored this event for several years. Asdee and Bally will be competing together at both Minor and Under 21 competitions. Local Club delegates, Secretary Mark O Hanlon and former Secretary and Club Referee Patsy Coughlan will be representing the club .

UNDER 13s. Our combination side travelled to Finnerty Park, Mountcoal on Wednesday evening last to take on St. Senans in a preliminary round of the Tommy Madden Memorial Cup which is organised by the North Kerry Coiste Na Nog in Association with the Madden family. Senans have been one of the top teams each year and have captured the Tommy Madden Memorial Plaque on several occasions since it was first played for in 2004; however Bally/Asdee have never actually won outright but they will still have to wait another year at least to fullfill that dream as the boys from the Halfway were much too good on the evening. It was a very one sided game with the home team on top in almost every sector of the field; taking the lead early on and were never at any stage in danger of defeat. However on saying that Asdee/Bally had a good few chances to score goals and points but unfortunately they never took those opportunities. At half time the score was Asdee/Bally 0-3 to St Senans 1-5. The second half St Senans once again took over and they scored 4-2 which brought their final tally to 5-7 and Asdee 6pts with Brendan Keane our chief scorer. Referee Mike Joy, Ballydonoghue. The Asdee Panel was : Niall O Connor, Michael Tracey, Darragh Healy, Oran O Neill, Michael Hannon, Patrick Mulvihill, Paddy O Neill, Adam Finucane, Oisin Healy, Liam Connolly, Bobby McCarronn, Brendan Keane, Pauric Fogarty, Jack Hannon, Eoin Kelliher, Liam Walsh, Sean O Connor, Ethan McDonald. Referee was Mike Joy from Ballydonoghue COUNTY FINAL: Once again there was a huge contingent of local support who travelled to Austin Stack, Park, Tralee on Sunday last to cheer on the Duffers against Kilmoyley in the Garveys Super Value County Senior Hurling Championship Final. It was a magnificent game that finished all square thanks to a massive long range free with the last puck of the game by Ballyduffs Padraig Boyle. Ballyduff 2-14 Kilmoyley 1-17. The eagerly awaited replay is scheduled to go ahead at Austin Stack Park on Saturday September24th.

MINORS: The best of luck to the Kerry Minor Footballers and Management in their quest for All Ireland glory when they take on Galway in the All Ireland Final at Croke Park on this Sunday as a curtain raiser to the All Ireland Senior Football final between Mayo and Dublin where they will hopefully make it a hat-trick of National Minor titles for the Kingdom. Both Michael Foley, Ballydonoghue and Cormac Linnane, Beale from our neighbouring clubs and who have strong Asdee connections have played a huge part in their recent victorys leading up to this. Not forgetting our remaining District Board players; Bryan Sweeney and Niall Collins, both Listowel Emmets. Best of luck to all concerned. COLLECTION. The Kerry County Board held their Annual Kerry Training Fund Collection at all weekend Masses throughout the County on last weekend and once again there was a great response from the local people in Asdee who once again subscribed generously of which the local St. Marys, G A A club are grateful.

MANAGER: Congratulations to Eamon Fitzmaurice, Finuge who was given a further 2 year term in charge of the Kerry Senior Footballers by the Committee of the Kerry County Board. No doubt Eamon has; and im sure will continue his excellent work for football in the County who took over in the autumn of 2012 leading the Kingdom to 3 All Ireland senior football finals; winning in 2014 against Donegal and going down to the Dubs in the Semi Final of 2013, 1 National League final appearance, 4 successful Munster Senior Championship finals; not forgetting his triumph with Dingle in the All Ireland Colleges Final of 2014. Holder of Senior, Under 21 and Minor All Irelands, All Ireland holder with his club Finuge, County Senior Football and Hurling medals, (Lixnaw and Feale Rangers), Cork Senior Football Championship with U. C. C, National League medals, Munster Senior Football Championship medals with Kerry, played with Munster in the inter-provential, McGrath Cup win. Managed Kerry at Under 21 along with been a Selector with Kerry at senior level; not forgetting all the success he had with both Finuge and Lixnaw two numerous to mention. Certainly the former All Ireland senior medal holder has a proven record and is the perfect man to carry on the job. GOLDEN GOAL. Last weeks winners for week 31 of the Golden Goal were; Caoimhe O Hanlon, Tralee which is in conjunction with upcoming Fixtures in National Football and Hurling Championship. A PRAYER TO THE BLESSED VIRGIN OUR LADY OF MOUNT CARMEL

O most beautiful Flower of Mount Carmel, Fruitful Vine, Splendour of Heaven, Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in this my necessity. O Star of the Sea, help me and show me herein you are my Mother. O Holy Mary, Mother of God, Queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart, to succour me in this necessity; ( mention your request here) There are none that can withstand your power. O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. (3 times) Sweet Mother, I place this cause in your hands. (3 times) This prayer is never known to fail. It is to be said for 3 consecutive days. Publication on granting of the favour must be promised and done. L.O’S.

SANDALS OF ST. ANTHONY MIRACULOUS NOVENA

For 9 Tuesdays, light a candle over this prayer and pray: 5 our Fathers, 5 Hail Marys, 5 Glory be to the Fathers. When finishing this prayer, blow out the candle and keep it in store for the other Tuesdays. On the last (9th) Tuesday, let the candle burn to the end. Ask for two requests very difficult to be fulfilled and one request for your general improvement. Every Tuesday you will distribute 3 copies of this Novena. If you do not have anybody to give copies to, leave them in the church by the image of Saint Anthony, if possible otherwise leave the copies in the church. O Holy St. Anthony, gentlest of Saints, your love for God and Charity for His creatures made you worthy, when on earth, to possess miraculous powers. Miracles waited on your word, which you were ever ready to speak for those in trouble or anxiety. Encouraged by this thought, I implore of you to obtain for me (state your specific request or intention here!) The answer to my prayer may require a miracle, even so, you are the Saint of Miracles. O gentle and loving St. Anthony, whose heart was ever full of human sympathy, whisper my petition into the ears of the Sweet Infant Jesus, who loved to be folded in your arms, and the gratitude of my heart will ever be yours. Amen. Say the "Our Father, the "Hail Mary" and the "Glory Be" L.O’S.

THE MIRACLE PRAYER Dear Heart of Jesus in the past I have asked many favours. This time I ask you this special one, (mention favour). Take it dear heart of Jesus and place it within your heart where your father sees it. Then in his merciful eyes it will become your own favour not mine. Amen. Say this prayer three times for three days and your favour will be granted. Never been known to fail. Must promise publication of prayer. D.H.
