Spring Conference in Ottawa focus on November elections By John Bogucki, president, and Jim Myer, bargaining chairman United Auto Workers Local 2096 Region 4 (A team report) Mary Comens, Sean Shelton, Larry Stine, Phil Euler, and John Bogucki went to this year’s Spring Conference held in Ottawa at the Pat Greathouse Education Center last weekend. Bob King, our International president of The UAW, spoke of the importance of this year’s elections and how we need to get out and vote and vote for candidates who support the working class. You have seen in Wisconsin, many have declared war on unions and collective bargaining. We must now, more then ever, vote for those who look out for our best interest. After we elect our candidates we must hold all of them accountable. Middle class and the American dream is at stake in these elections. If you have any questions on how candidates voted, feel free to contact Larry Stine, John Bogucki, or call the hall at 815-842-3289. “There is a direct relationship between the bread box and the ballot box.” —Walter Reuther We can never forget this fact! or with one of the Veteran’s Committee members. Please try to pay at sign-up. All money raised will benefit our veterans. So, show your support and come play golf for our veterans. Contact the Union Hall If you are on medical, worker’s compensation, family leave, military duty, or if you recently have retired or separated, please contact the dues office with this information. It will be of great assistance to the Local in order to keep our records accurate and current. It will help keep records for you, if needed. With that, if you are sick you need to contact your supervisor, not just use the call-in system at Caterpillar. It takes notification and approval. With all this now, the Company is not taking your medical premiums or only taking a partial payment. Keep close eye on your pay stubs before and after your leave. Be looking for a bill in the mail for your premium when you are out on leave, because they no longer take it from your benefit check. If you have any questions please call the hall, 815-842-3289. Union representation If for any reason you are called to a meeting with your supervisor, superintendent, or H.R. representative, ask for union representation! This goes for supplemental employees, as well. If you are denied union representation, contact the Union Hall A.S.A.P. at 815-842-3289, and give us your details. Thanks. In an effort to ensure someone is at the hall for first shift we will be manning the hall before first shift each Wednesday and after first shift each Monday.
