STARTING THURSDAY

By TARA DAYTON Twenty years ago, Steve Poulton left Levin with little more than a guitar in his hand and the country in his soul to hit the music scene in America. He traded gum boots for cowboy boots, sun hat for a Stetson and hit the scene with a persevering vengeance. Not only did he play and tour with multiple artists like The Pink Flamingos, Jill Rivera, and Soular; he also travelled extensively as a free lance sound engineer and eventually built a premier sound company called Audio Excellence which he ran for a decade. His home was Albuquerque, New Mexico, one state west of Texas and an hour south of Santa Fe. He was smack dab in the landscape of a John Wayne movie. A couple of states away lies Tennessee, home to Nashville, the country music capital of the world. The country artists touring through New Mexico served as the living backdrop for Steve to begin to understand and start nurturing his real love of the music. Poulton has been fortunate to have worked with some of the big names in country music. He provided sound and engineering for superstars such as Taylor Swift, George Strait, Brooks and Dunn, LVN020414splPoulton Toby Keith, and The Doobie Brothers. URBAN Cowboy Steve Poulton.
