Wellington City Council thought the time had arisen to start a conversation about the future of Wellington so they reached out to Nga Hau e Wha o Papararangi Marae in Newlands about how to invest in the city, given what is already known about the changes Wellington
faces, from population growth to sea levels rising. This is done through the Long-term Plan which sets out what council should focus on most over the next 30 years and is reviewed every three years. Deputy mayor Jill Day, councillor Peter Gilberd and council staff addressed those gathered on the subject of ‘Our City
