Lincoln batsmen to claim victory Gruijters made 119 not out off 120 balls as Leeston-Southbridge reached 207/6 in their 45 overs. Jack Hyde was the pick of the Cheviot bowlers, taking 3-11 off nine overs. In reply, Cheviot were always chasing the game, especially after losing Canterbury Country representative Andy Burnett early. Gruijters was just as effective with the ball in hand, taking 4-17 with his right arm off spin. Competition rivals Sefton are still nipping at LeestonSouthbridge’s heels with a comfortable win over OxfordRangiora thanks to a deep batting display.

Injured Matt Rowe top-scored with 49, but Lance Taylor, Nigel Granger, Andrew Laffey, and Ollie Bragg all chipped in with valuable runs as the home side made 222/7 in their 45 overs. Paceman Tom Dwyer picked up three wickets. In reply, only Dave Fulton, and later Dwyer, prospered as Oxford-Rangiora’s run chase fell 77 runs short. Weedons kept their top four hopes well and truly alive with a 13-run win over Southbrook at Weedons Domain. Batting first, Weedons scored 246 runs with handy totals throughout the order. Opener James Richards got

them off to a positive start with 67 before Todd Inness smashed 76 off just 63 balls. Fraser Austin then claimed the prize wicket of Shanan Stewart, trapping him LBW for two, as Weedons got their defence off to a perfect start. Canterbury rep Jack Boyle batted serenely for his century but when he was bowled by Josh Watson for 119 off 138 balls in the 43rd over, Southbrook’s chances of victory were over.
