THERE’S GOOD things on the horizon for the Leeston area, and wider district in general. On page 7 today, we outline the Ellesmere Heritage Park Trust’s vision to promote tourism in the district, which apart from the skifields and a few other things is fairly skinny. It hasn’t happened overnight, though – the vision has been six years in the making. Let’s hope it doesn’t take that long to get the vision off the ground. Speaking of new things The Black Door Bar and Eatery has opened in Lincoln. Word on the street in Lincoln is it’s good. The beer’s reasonably priced, the food is very good and the staff are fantastic, according to some of the boys who went in on Friday and Saturday night. - Barry Clarke
