Golf champions recognised Ellesmere Golf Club’s finals day was held on Saturday, the conclusion to a series of intra-club championships that started in February. Prizegiving was also held on Saturday night with Paul Bailey being named the senior men’s champion and Joanne Harkerss the senior women’s champion. CHAMPIONS: The Ellesmere College netball team were the only Selwyn side to take top spot for one of the nine sports contested as part of the Koru Games held in Lincoln, Rolleston and Prebbleton last week. They won their tournament with a hardly fought 16-11 victory against St Margaret’s College in the final. Year 7 and 8 pupils from 21 South Island schools battled it out over three days in netball, rugby sevens, touch rugby, football, volleyball, table tennis, lawn bowls, basketball and swimming. Other Selwyn schools taking part included Rolleston, Clearview, Weedons, Burnham, Broadfield, Springston, Prebbleton, Tai Tapu and Lincoln Primary.
