The Pulteney Water Dept. purchases water from the village of Penn Yan. In May we were informed of a price increase for purchased water from Penn Yan starting June 1, 2023. Our cost for water increased from $46,102.00 to $81,334.00 per year. This increase will raise the cost per customer by $23.28/quarter or $93.10/year. BATH, NY: Robert Emmitt (Bob) Smith of Bath, NY passed away at Strong Memorial Hospital on June 30, 2023 with his family by his side.

Bob was born in Ingleside, New York. on July 26, 1936 to George and Buela (Bush) Smith. Bob retired from Mercury Aircra in 1998 a er nearly 40 years in the Maintenance Dept.

Bob was predeceased by his parents George and Buela (Bush) Smith, daughter Silver Dawn, and brothers Frank, Charles and Chauncey.

He is survived by his wife Sandra of 47 years, son Robert Emmitt II, sister Doris, grandchildren Justin and Nicole, great granddaughter Emma Kay, several nieces and nephews and good friends.

Bob also enjoyed building small thing in his garage and taking early morning walks down his long driveway. He also loved his little fur friend "Ruby". Per Bob's wishes there will be no services.

Edward Lancer Edward Lancer

HAMMONDSPORT, NY: Edward Lancer, 69, of Grape Street, passed away ursday, June 29, 2023 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania.

Born in Seneca Falls on January 31, 1954, he was a son of the late Robert J. and Helen (Bree) Lancer. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Robert M. Lancer.

A graduate of Geneva High School, Ed has resided in Hammondsport since 1998 and was employed for 20 years at Shirley’s Lumber in Bath, New York.

He enjoyed model trains and will be remembered for his “wry” sense of humor.

He is lovingly survived by his wife of 31 years, Debra Robbins whom he married in 1992; two sisters, Barbara Kinne of Colorado and Mary (Donald) Dunham of Geneva, NY; as well as several nieces and nephews.

To honor his wishes there will be no services.

In lieu of owers, those wishing may contribute in his memory to the Hammondsport American Legion, 8425 State Route 54, Hammondsport, NY 14840.

Town Thurston

The Town of Thurston will hold a public hearing on July 19, 2023 at 6:30PM at the Thurston Town Hall (7578 County Route 333, Campbell, NY 14821) for the purpose of hearing public comments on the Town of Thurston’s community development needs, and to to discuss the possible submission of one or more Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications for the 2023 program year. The CDBG program is administered by the New York State Office of Community Renewal (OCR), and will make available to eligible governments approximately $20 million for the 2023 program year for housing, economic development, public facilities, public infrastructure, and planning activities, with the principal purpose of benefiting low/moderate income persons. The Town of Thurston is applying for $25,000 in CDBG Community Planning funds to conduct a comprehensive Housing Needs Assessment as a first step towards a future town-wide housing rehabilitation program. The hearing will provide further information about the CDBG program and will allow for citizen participation in the development of any proposed grant applications and/or provide technical assistance to develop alternate proposals. Comments on the CDBG program or proposed project(s) will be received at this time. The hearing is being conducted pursuant to Section 570.486, Subpart I of the CFR and in compliance with the requirements of the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974, as amended.
