THE INITIATIVES OF THE PROJECT “In Ganapaddi the mission is: Back to School. That is why computer classes are taught in the village. This project has grown enormously since its start. Meanwhile 120 children are taught in school by three teachers”. However, the initiatives of the project go beyond that:
• 500 families per year are provided
of B-choice clothing to get through the winter; • Several cows are slaughtered in the autumn; the meat is distributed to poor families; • Girls have sewing lessons so that they - if they like – can later work in the factory; • Children learn the basic rules of hygiene and cleanness in order to create a healthier environment; • Each month a simple house is built for homeless families; • Every month, one or two sanitary toilets are made; • A water pipeline ensures that 51 families don’t have to cover long distances for clean drinking water; • Families are trained on planting and fisheries; • Each family gets one goat, with which more goats can be bred to generate income.
ABOUT THE FACTORIES IN BANGLADESH Lately, we have been in our two modern factories in Dhaka, Bangladesh, where respectively 1600 people and 2500 people are working. When you walk on the streets of Bangladesh, you see that the population obviously has a hard time. In our factories, we see a lot of happy people. It must be hard work, you notice it, but the men and women enjoy their work. There are children’s crèches. There is also a doctor twice a week and there are catered lunches. These provisions are in Bangladesh exception rather than the rule. Also the hygiene is in order and the workers go home at 17:00. Everything is well organized. OBJECTIVE OF THE CHOICE The Choice focuses on good clothes at a competitive price. On the other hand there is a
financially contribution to the Back to School Project. “In fact, the Government should start with this, so it can be supported internationally. To lay a good foundation, education is very important. We are no idealists, but if we do production and we can add some value, we will gladly do so.”
