Note the wonderful matching dinner jackets that the band members are wearing. Bill Haley wears a slightly darker one – maybe to show that he’s the leader of the band?

No 1 in US & UK

The band was the first ‘Pop’ group to appear on the famous US TV programme ‘The Ed Sullivan Show.

Rock Around the Clock was featured in two major films in the 1950’s – Blackboard Jungle & Rock Around the Clock.

The band visited Britain in 1957 and were mobbed by adoring fans at Waterloo Station!

They played ‘Rock Around the Clock’ for the Queen in 1979.

The band was named after ‘Halley’s Comet’ which can be seen from earth every 75 years

Parents were worried that Rock Around the Clock would be a terrible influence of their children!
