BLOCK_ME is an “Anti-Advertising Campaign� or AAC, playing on the irony of advertising against ads, it utilizes humour, audience involvement, and a wide spread digital delivery platform to reach as many people as possible, with the hopes that people will not only start to be aware of the subliminal ads they face every day, but start to take action against them.

The digital delivery platforms include, a YouTube ad campaign “Don’t you hate these ads??” where 15 or 30 seconds of a blank black screen are followed by a kinetic typography animation saying “Don’t you hate these ads??” If this ad is clicked on, it takes the user to our website, where they will be greeted with a button to “Never see this, or any other ads, again.” Also including a website, stating our purpose and mission, teaching people how to avoid ads, and
providing a single click ad removal service, from all devices. The campaign also includes a 45 second 3D animated advertisement, where a collection of tiles, with words on the top face, slide down a ramp, into view, telling the tale of BLOCK_ME. This piece is to be played on all delivery avenues, as it is the epicenter of the campaign. Several live events are also planned throughout the five week campaign duration.

If successful BLOCK_ME will reduce noncreative advertising by up to 30%, by increasing the number of ad block users, the ad companies will have to become more creative, either hoping people will unblock their content, or finding delivery avenues that are not blocked, either outcome is a positive on the current situation.
