Apparently Elizabeth Hieronymus couldn’t get enough of Gambier, OH, where she graduated from Kenyon College in ’99; she returned this fall to become the Assistant Director of Alumni and Parent Relations as well as the Annual Funds. She and her friend Jaime purchased a house overlooking the scenic Kokosing River and adopted a beautiful black lab puppy mix “Sierra” (to remind them of California). “I’m very happy here, and the small town life reminds me of Ojai.” She can be reached at Hieronymuse@kenyon.edu.

1996 From her parents, we learned that Erin Archer graduated cum laude from the University of Chicago in June 2000, with a double concentration: biology and law, letters and society. Erin’s working as a research analyst for Raymond James. From another proud set of parents: Lindsay Medigovich graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford, and is working for the P.R. firm Burson Marsteller in San Francisco, at least until she returns to Stanford next fall to pursue a graduate degree in English Literature.

Elizabeth Gaydos-Massey (previously Elizabeth Zeigler) sent news from jolly ol’ England that they have a second daughter: Kaitlyn Louise Massey. She arrived on January 11, 2001, to join her five-year-old sister, Aurora Erin. Elizabeth plans to return to graduate school this fall with hopes of ultimately completing a doctorate in behavioural psychology. Her husband, Neil, is working as a web developer in the design studio at Coventry University. She sent in this newsy missive: “I will be attending the University of Georgia this fall to pursue a master’s degree in Elementary Education. So Nate [Toll] and I will be moving to the other coast and living in Athens. Nate will continue to consult as a hydrogeologist for EarthTech. We have been raising a service dog for Canine Companions for Independence and enjoying our first year of marriage! Other Toads: We have enjoyed spending time with Abby Ramsden who is working for the Princeton Review in the Bay Area. Saw Sky O’Conner while she was visiting family in California and she is preparing to go back to graduate school for a Journalism degree. She and her husband are trying to decide on what school to attend. Sharon Dana Karlsberg will acquire another name when she marries her longtime beau, Craig J. Sakowitz, in June. They plan to marry at the historic Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, NH. Paula Allen proudly reports that Alexia Allen graduated from Hollins in January before spending a month in Chile and Patagonia. Unfortunately she’ll miss Reunion because she’ll be backpacking and monitoring bird populations in the North Cascades National Park. Grad school looms on the horizon and she hopes to teach at Thacher after attaining her doctorate. This February she worked on a small farm in Maine, tutoring some home-schooled daughters. Josh Kurlinski and his entire family were on hand as brother Ryan [’97] received his bachelor’s degree from Williams.

“Didn’t have to wait in lines or get our luggage searched!” Amanda Johnson and her fiancé, Peter “PJ” Hradilek, spent the summer traveling with diplomatic status (PJ’s father is an American Diplomat in Brazil): four weeks in Brasilia and a week in Rio de Janeiro. Amanda will graduate this fall with a B.S. in Communication and a minor in classics.
1998 After spending the fall at the University of Barcelona with Phil Hoos and traveling in Turkey, Morocco, and Eastern Europe, NYU insists that Bryson Brown stay in town to finish up his degree! His folks will be glad to have him close to home. According to Alexis MacDonald, “Every person should make it down to Australia at one part of their life—it is truly an amazing place. The people are incredible and hilarious!” She came back to the States for a few weeks this winter before returning to Australia until July 2001. “I love Australia! I’m living in my own house with three Australian boys and a dog!” She traveled to India, Nepal, Japan, Singapore, and Bali in January and February. Christina “Charley” Medigovich joined the ranks of world traveler: she studied in Rome this past fall and she will study in Brighton, England, this winter; then she’s onto the University of Sussex for the spring term. She’s majoring in Media Studies. Since January, Kim Turner has been studying in Sevilla, Spain. “Southern Spain has very similar weather to So. Cal, which makes me feel right at home with the bright sun and blue skies. Life at Brown has also been wonderful with my concentration in Public Policy and lots of great camping with the BOLT leadership/outdoor experience program.” Ashley Wick is a starting defense player for Duke’s Varsity Lacrosse Team. In the past, this team was ranked number four in the nation. Tim Moore has hit stride at Santa Barbara City College. His mother, Carolyn, wrote to report that he is on the Student Senate, was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Society (the international honor society for two-year colleges), is tutoring students in philosophy, and will be in the mentoring program next semester. Tim was cast in three plays during his freshman year and this spring he’s performing in “Beauty Queen of Leenane” and an English comedy “Taking Steps.” Kelly Collier is at Fairhaven College (part of Western Washington University) in Bellingham, WA, and loves it. She’s studying the environmental education of yoga.
Daniel Lancefield is majoring in economics at Reed College. He’s spending this year in Madrid as part of the school’s Junior Year Abroad program. After camping in the Sespe and visiting Thacher, Amy Purdie took off for Tanzania, where she is living with a local family and studying Swahili.
