Business and Enterprise

You don’t need to have studied Business previously, and if you are new to the subject you may be surprised how much you’ve already picked up through your everyday interactions – from ordering pizza over a phone app, or searching for a bank account that gives the best interest rates. A vital ingredient in a market economy, you’ll find Business a dynamic subject where theory can be applied to a wide range of organisations with which we are all familiar. You’ll dig deep into business theory and use case studies to develop your understanding of how method is put into practice by small, medium and large organisations. As well as A level Business and Economics, we offer career focused Diplomas and Certificates in Business and Travel and Tourism. Business students will cover topics such as finance, marketing, human resource management and knowledge of the business sector. Travel and Tourism students will combine the study of tourism with an introduction into the world of Business. A large number of our students go on to study Business degrees at university and progress into jobs in the retail, finance, charity and manufacturing sectors. They have roles as diverse as project management, data analysis, digital marketing and team leadership. The teachers delivering Business are experienced subject specialists who have all worked in the industry and bring their vital life experience to our students.

Student Profile

Jacob received a triple Distinction* in BTEC Business Level 3 Extended Diploma. “My favourite thing about the College is the study facilities such as the Student Learning Centre (SLC) and library. They are great for studying in between lessons and offer everything you need to complete work. Also the opportunity given to me via the industrial placement scheme, which I completed with HM Staffing, has really helped me gain essential experience in the workplace. Over the two years I’ve been at College, there have been so many supportive people who have supported me with my studies and helped me decide where I would like to be in the future.”

Jacob is now a resource controller apprentice at Softcat PLC in Marlow.

In 2020, Level 3 Travel and Tourism celebrated a 100% pass rate, with 75% of students gaining a triple Distinction or higher. 82% of our students on Vocational Business courses achieved MMM or above.
