Surrounding the square are the Royal Palace, the New Church and several department stores, hotels, and restaurants.Though our visit to Amsterdam will only is a brief one, there are many things you can find to do. Amongst other choices, you could visit the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh museum, the Rijksmuseum or perhaps go on a canal boat cruise. If you’re looking shopping in Amsterdam, you can walk along two interconnected shopping streets, Kalverstraat and Leidsestraat. Some things to try while in Amsterdam are the famous Dutch Stroopwafels (thin-cut wafels with syrup in the middle), Pancakes and Gevulde Koek (filled cookie). If you’re in the mood for something more American, you can visit the Hard Rock Café in Leidseplein. About Edinburgh Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and has a population of 489,000 people. One Million people visit Edinburg each year and that makes it the second most popular destination in Great Britain after London. The name Edinburgh has Gaelic origins and means "fortress on the hill slope”. Edinburgh is the headquarters of the Scottish Parliament. The two main attractions in Edinburgh are its castle and “The Royal Mile”, the road from Canongate to High Street and Castle Hill. It starts at Edinburgh Castle and goes through Highland Tolbooth Church, St. Giles Cathedral, the People's Story Museum, the Museum of Edinburgh and the John Knox House to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Day 1: Free day in Amsterdam On Wednesday morning, after breakfast on the autobahn near to Amsterdam we will arrive in Amsterdam for free time. We meet again at 4:00 pm at the Amsterdam ferry terminal to board our ship for our overnight journey from Amsterdam’s harbor (16 hours) to Newcastle, England. Our ship has a wide variety of amenities and activities on board to keep you busy, and dinner will be served on board.


Day 2: Edinburgh city tour & Edinburgh castle On Thursday morning, breakfast is included in the ferry crossing and we will arrive by boat at the Newcastle ferry harbor at 9:00 am UK time. We still have 170 kilometers to travel from Newcastle to Edinburgh by bus. After lunch, we check-in to our hotel and afterwards we meet our tour guide for a 3 hour city tour of the capital of Scotland. The main focus of our tour will be the Royal Castle and the attractions on the Royal mile. In the Middle Ages Edinburgh became Scotland’s chief royal castle - seat of royalty, headquarters of the sheriff of Edinburgh, military garrison and storehouse of the royal gun train, and repository of the nation’s crown jewels and state records. (B) (D) Day 3: Free day in Edinburgh! Friday will be your free day to discover the city of Scotland on your own. Breakfast will be served today at hotel. After breakfast, a few places you might want to visit are The Palace of Holyrood House and Holyrood Palace in Edinburgh. These are the official residence of the British royal family in Scotland. It is located at the eastern end of the Royal Mile. Another family friendly destination is the Royal Botanic Gardens in the north of the city. To the west of the Botanical Garden are the Edinburgh Zoo and the Gallery of Modern Arts. Dinner tonight is at our hotel or a local restaurant near to our hotel. (B) (D) Day 4: Edinburgh to Amsterdam via mini cruise ship On Saturday morning after breakfast, you will have the opportunity to do some last minute sightseeing and souvenir shopping. We leave by bus from our hotel at 12:00 noon for our ferry crossings in Newcastle to Amsterdam. The boat leaves Newcastle at 5:30 pm. Please make sure you take everything you need from the bus for the overnight ferry crossing. Once the ferry departs the harbor it is not allowed to return to the bus. The lower compartment bays are usually sealed and are not opened until the ferry arrives in port. (B) Day 5: Amsterdam to Germany/ half day in Amsterdam Breakfast will be served Sunday morning on board of our ferry. We arrive in Amsterdam at 9:00 am and we will have half a day of free time to further explore the sights of Amsterdam. We depart Amsterdam at 1:30 pm for Germany. We will stop on the autobahn for dinner en route to our destinations within the Grafenwoehr Garrison communities of Graf and Vilseck.
