MESSAGE from the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

I am so excited about the opportunity to serve Texas Baptists as your executive director. After almost forty years of serving as a local church minister, I am honored to serve the local churches and institutions of Texas Baptists. The Great Commission and the Great Commandment have been my guideposts in local church ministry. I am thankful convention leadership has identified these two “greats” as the basis for our ministry. We get to build on a great legacy of making disciples by sharing Christ and showing love with all the nations in our state and beyond. That is a God-sized task! As we step into an ever-changing future, we rely on the Holy Spirit who came to the Church on Pentecost, steward the incredible resources God has entrusted to us and seize the opportunity to become a movement of God’s people on mission. The GC2 initiative, which stands for the Great Commission and

the Great Commandment, gives us the opportunity to network together with like-minded Christians, churches and ministries across our state and beyond as a living and growing movement for the glory of God. While the gospel and the mission remain the same, our ability to adapt will help us in the task Christ has given us. Exciting days are ahead! I am thankful for your partnership in the gospel, and I pray that we will continue to strengthen our relationship as we pray, serve, share Christ, show love and give generously through the Texas Baptists Cooperative Program. Your servant,
