aims

The Drive School at Tettenhall College The Drive School at Tettenhall College is the pre-preparatory department and caters for both boys and girls aged from 2 to 7 in a purpose-built school. The modern and spacious accommodation comprises an all year round Nursery unit, large well-equipped Kindergarten and parallel classrooms for Reception and Years 1 and 2. A Kiva provides an atmospheric environment for music and story telling.

The School provides a secure, caring environment where children can learn and play throughout the early years of their education. We aim to develop in each child a spirit of curiosity, a sense of self-worth and the highest standards of personal behaviour. In addition, we believe that each individual should fulfil his or her own academic potential and try to instil a desire for challenge at every level. Children also learn how to co-operate in work and play and to develop the skills of community life.

Secure play areas and a sensory garden ensure imaginative and social play. The teaching staff are appointed for their special qualifications and sympathetic ability to meet the needs of the children of this age range and the boys and girls flourish in an atmosphere of happy discipline and purposeful activity.

nursery

The Nursery contains an enviable range of quality toys for creative play. There is also an integral secure outdoor play area. Our experienced staff offer a structured timetable of activities within a caring atmosphere throughout the day. Children must be two

years of age, but we have nappy changing facilities and our staff will ‘potty train’ if necessary. Children can attend all day or for morning/afternoon sessions only. The Nursery is also open during the school holidays. For further details, please refer to the Information Booklet.

curriculum

Other Subjects History, Geography and Religious Education are studied in the form of Topics, whilst a ‘hands on’ approach to Design Technology and Science encourages inquiry and unlocks questioning minds. The computer facilities enable pupils to use Information Technology across the curriculum. In Year 2, pupils complete Key Stage 1 of the National Curriculum and also start to learn French. Regular reports for each child and carefully constructed pupil profiles enable parents and teachers to monitor progress throughout.
