WELCOME ANGIE LAWRENCE-SCOTT INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

Dear fellow Inchcapees, Welcome to the first edition of iNews, Inchcape’s new company magazine. My name is Angie Lawrence-Scott and for those that have not met me, I am the Internal Communications Manager for the business.

I joined in August 2014 and have spent the last few months getting to grips with the incredible, diverse and unique business that is Inchcape. As Internal Communications Manager, my aim is to bring you all a bit closer together by sharing news and information from across the business. In this magazine, I want to include news from Connor McCormack and the Executive team, highlights from the Retail Centres, updates from IFS, what’s happening in the Contact Centres, staff interviews, regional news – you name it, I plan to try and talk about it.

I hope that you will welcome this magazine and find its content of interest. I hope that after reading this magazine you will want to be a part of it – after all, without your news and participation, I won’t have a lot to write about! In this first edition, you will find an interview with the one and only Connor McCormack, photos from the Leading Lights Annual Gala event, news on the launch of iLearn and the upcoming launch of IA Live, the new Light UK explained, a staff interview feature called Who’s in the MOT (which, in my world, stands for Member of the Team) as well as a competition – see the back page. Each edition will have a Corporate Corner section and then a page specific to each division within our business. I hope you enjoy the first edition, Angie

Well, the first quarter of the year is over and what a busy start to the year we have had. As an Executive Team we kicked off the year with our Leadership Conference in Birmingham, where myself and the team talked about our hopes and aims for 2015. One thing that I wanted to relay was my focus for our simple formula –

This formula is working, we all know how it works and we all know what we have to do, so remember this and you shouldn’t go far wrong.

This is your magazine and we welcome all your comments and creative contributions. Please send your news and views to: +44 (0) 20 8986 2004

Already within 2015, there has been a lot of change within the business, namely the exciting launch of iLearn – our new online learning portal, the announcement that Ross McCluskey is shipping out to Inchcape Australia to take over the role of Finance Director, the news that Jon Coverdale, our HR Director of seven years is leaving us for pastures new and the biggest change of all… and the biggest change for me, the appointment of Stefan Bomhard, as the new Group CEO. Clearly, 2015 will be a different year for Inchcape, so I ask you all to

embrace the changes that come and keep focused on the road ahead. Thank you to everyone who helped us to achieve 8th place in the Sunday Times Top 25 Best Big Companies to Work For – three consecutive years in the Top 25 is just incredible and making the Top 10 is something I am extremely proud of. I am delighted that we have launched iNews, our new internal magazine, and encourage you all to support Angie in her quest for news from around the business. As you all know communication is very important to me and vital to the ongoing success of our business. I want to create a culture where you all feel that you are part of the bigger picture and that you understand where you fit within the business. What better way than to learn about what is going on in other areas than by reading this. We all know that no two days are ever the same at Inchcape – so let’s hear what happens in your day. We ended Q1 xxxxx – so let’s make sure Q2 is just as successful and continue to drive forward to achieve the incredible results I know we can. Thank you, Connor

IN JANUARY, WE CELEBRATED THE SUCCESS OF OUR GOLD LEADING LIGHTS FOR 2014. THE EVENT WAS HELD AT THE PARK PLAZA HOTEL IN WESTMINSTER IN SATURDAY 31ST JANUARY. It was a fantastic weekend for all our winners, who came along with their partners and celebrated their achievement in style. Congratulations to all our Leading Lights for 2014.

LEADING LIGHTS FOR 2015 So, how do you secure your place at the next Leading Lights Gala Event? You can’t put a price on the value of recognition – saying thank you to your staff helps to motivate them, keeps them engaged and makes them feel that what they are doing is being noticed and appreciated.

Recently, we have advised that some modifications were being made to the existing Leading Lights scheme. So, what have we changed? We have revised the categories, moved the nomination measure to our Company Values, removed monthly winners, in favour of quarterly and annual winners only, updated the artwork and created a consistent reward for each winner, in that every Leading Light will receive a congratulatory letter, a pin and a £50 gift card as standard. Leading Lights is very important to us – it helps us to recognise the outstanding performance of our people. We made these changes further to feedback received and we hope that these modifications will ensure a simplified nomination process, a consistent level of recognition, an improved ‘kudos’ in being a winner while promoting the profile of Leading Lights.

SWITCHING THE LIGHT BACK ON – THE NEW-LOOK LIGHT UK EXPLAINED: Our intranet, The Light, has recently been transformed… so I urge you all to take a look. The Light is now referred to as The Light UK to separate us from the Group site. We wanted to improve the look, feel and basic infrastructure of the site, to ensure that employees find what they need when they need it. So, what can you expect from The Light UK…? Here are just some of the benefits: • A clearer route to the information you need • A Retail Centre search facility • Direct links from the home page to: • CINTRA, the self-service site for all your personnel needs • Monster – for you to view all the latest vacancies within the business
