How it works
Simple technology in the form of the FareShare FoodCloud app keeps the Community Food Connection scheme running smoothly. It connects Tesco stores directly with local charities and community groups. The store simply uploads details of any goodquality, unsold food so charities can come and collect it for free. This is then turned into wholesome meals for those in need. If you’d like to register your group or charity, complete the application form at fareshare.org.uk/ fareshare-foodcloud.

What’s on offer? Donated food typically includes fruit, veg, bread and eggs, plus some meat, cheese and yogurt – all great ingredients for healthy, filling meals.
Tesco believes that no food should go to waste: Community Food Connection, in partnership with FareShare FoodCloud, has so far donated enough food to provide thousands of meals to hundreds of charities and community groups across the UK, including homeless shelters, after-school clubs and domestic violence hostels.
What’s next? The great work achieved by Community Food Connection continues with the scheme recently launched in Glasgow, Belfast, Liverpool, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Swansea, Southampton, Portsmouth, Birmingham, Manchester and London – giving even more people the chance to enjoy a hot nutritious meal when they need it most.
