WE GATHER IN SPIRIT

Homecoming 2022

Since the 2017 Tubbs fire, homecoming at Newman has taken on a new meaning. Not only is it a school celebration, and a rite of passage for our students, but it is also a celebration of resilience. “We had just finished homecoming week when the fires came through and much of our campus burnt. Since then, and since the pandemic, Homecoming celebrations have become much more than just a rally – or a football game and a dance – but it’s about our NEWMAN SPIRIT,” Heather Wilson, Newman ASB teacher.

Dance

The theme of Homecoming 2022 was Lan’turn’ it up. Special thank you to the ASB class for decorating and leading the homecoming celebrations throughout the week. We had over 500 students attend the dance and it was a fun night to remember.

Homecoming Game And Traditions

The 2022 Newman Homecoming Princesses were escorted out onto the field by family members and celebrated by the community and student body. During the homecoming game the classes decorated golf carts which showcased their creativity and class spirit.

The homecoming princesses were:

Natalia Belmonte

Kailey Geernaert

Hayden Hansel

Vivien Jordan

Kassie Lindeblad

Lulu Mazur

Daire Hassett

Deja Duenas

Hayden Hansel was crowned queen

Rally

Senior Ian Lee played Still Dre by Dr. Dre on the piano to start the rally - once the music stopped the lights went down and over a hundred glow sticks lit up the gym. Many fun games and contests at the rally showcased the Newman spirit.
