Located in western South America, covering a territory of 1.2 million km² (463,321 mi2) with 32 million inhabitants, 47 native languages, and 12 UNESCO World Heritage sites, Peru covers 3 main regions: the desert Coast, the Andean highlands, and the Amazon jungle.

We have a fascinating historical legacy that began to take shape with the first precolumbian cultures, which later became the largest and most powerful empire in South America. It is a history we can access by exploring archaeological centers and traveling ancient Inca roads.

Since the Spanish conquest, we have received European, Asian, and African influences. The vagaries of destiny have made us multicultural with a millenary essence.

The Andes mountain range is our country’s backbone, dividing the Pacific Ocean coast from the vast Amazon. We are one of the countries with the greatest biodiversity in the world. Peru has beaches, deserts, over 12,000 lakes, snow-capped peaks, the two deepest canyons in the world, and multiple scenic valleys. Spaces both mystical and remote are available to be explored by nature and adventure lovers.
